Hi Tom,

Bitwig Studio is rocking here as well, and Thanks for your Bi-Directional Controller Script. It was crucial to install it so I can use my Nord Lead 4 (Rack) Synth with BWS.

Question : Is it difficult to learn Java Script , and how to work with the API. I have some programming background, but not in Java Scripting, I also find that some of the resources for Java Scripting focus on the Web aspect of JS.

Are there any good resources/tutorials that focus on API, JS for Bitwig Studio ?

Thanks,
Muziksculp

Hey Musicsculp,
the surface of JS is very clear and simple, pretty much C/Java syntax, the deeper bits I found spooky at times (I have an oldschool C background) and it needs a bit of getting used to. But I would recommend just starting and see how it goes. Everybody is different when it comes to coding...

There is a dedicated BWS Controller Scripting forum here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=268
At the top of it you find some sticky topics with resources and links (the topmost thread is a bit outdated)
I personally found the Crockford videos quite helpful and interesting.

Yeah, much of the resources are for Web, but the community can help you out if you get stuck.
The API is getting more and more complex and I no longer follow it closely - I have rather simple needs and don't use much controllers personally (funny but true :-) ).

It's also a good idea to look into the existing scripts - some are rather readable.

Cheers,

Tom

Ableton Live for example.

I can confirm FL, Live have. I don't know the mechanism behind it.

yea just tested it on live and it at least worked in diva. Id guess that as long as the vst exports everything you may tweak then it works. Live 8 probably has problems once you get past tweaking the 128th parameter since it had that limit but it went away starting at live 9
