Just stumbled over this amazing Sample organizer app, but it's old and download don't work anymore.
http://www.soundtorch.com/

So i wonder, is there anything else like this around? I could really use such a thing.

Post

I'm also looking for an alternative.

Thanks, nothing like soundtorch there from what i can see though. I guess there is none.
How frustrating when you find something just perfect and spot on what you need, and it's no longer around. :(

Post

I still use it now and again after urlwolf mentioned it a while back in another thread.

Thing is, I don't use it for organising samples or sorting them but as a creative tool.
Say I've downloaded 6 sample packs this month, I load some or all the samples and play around with all the features; zooming in and out with the mouse scroll wheel and arranging positions with CASEmagnet and recording into audacity as I go.

The download is still on the web.archive Dec 2013. It's named simply 'setup.exe' and matches the one I have, but scan to be on the safe side.

Oh, first i thought you were just teasing :P,
but then you provided a way to get it! Thanks a lot!
Didn't know about the web archive. :)

Edit: oops, cant even install it on Win 10, just doesnt work. Oh well.

Post

Could you post the direct link? Googling for setup.exe site:accessive-tools.com doesn't bring anything.

Post

I tried to install it on Win 7 and it gave me a error as well.

The setup.exe file from the archive.org backup is a few hundred Kb, I think it is just a downloader for the real installer that is not online anymore.

[edit] here is a link to the web archive, but as I said, I think the installer does not work:

I think you're right.
I have emailed the accessive-tools guys who seem to be hosting this. I'll let you know if i ever get a reply!

That exe file is the same size as the one I have which I renamed so I'd know what it was. It gives an error on trying to install it on Win8 after installing SQL Server Compact but during installation of XNA Framework.
I seem to remember having to give permission to send data back to them for research. I figured if it ever got out of beta and went commercial, it would stop working. But it hasn't and it didn't.

The page is here in case anyone wants to see if it will install;

trying to install:

An error occurred trying to download 'http://www.accessive-tools.com/SoundTor ... pplication'.

See the setup log file located at 'C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD34D1.tmp\install.log' for more information.

Yep, same here.
If someone figures out a "hack" to install this thing i would'nt really mind. :)

Interested as well.

Doh, I got it running one time, but after I closed it it stopped working. I had it on a backup disc after a hard drive crash. the problem with the installer is that it phones home looking to download a file from the now defunct accessive-tools.com site. The logs give this error:

Code: Select all

Launching Application.
URLDownloadToCacheFile failed with HRESULT '-2146697205'
Error: An error occurred trying to download 'http://www.accessive-tools.com/SoundTorch2.1/SoundTorch2.application'.
The one time I did get it running, it prompted for email and reg code, but reg cod was grayed out. I added my email address (I had registered it a million years ago), but it failed. Then I opened it again and the email was in and it gave me the ability to enter the reg. code and it worked. but never since then. If anyone can figure out how to bypass the phone-home, that is the only thing preventing it from running.
