But you still didn't answer... How's the doing design coming?
It is a critical element to an amazing OSC track.

Like perform brain surgery. I'm auditioning literally dozens of candidates for each part and picking the ones I think best fit. I listen with one sound, then another, then another, then another. I mix and match from column A and column B. I have literally thousands of possible combinations and that's just with 19 parts so far and I'm not even done with the arrangement.z.prime wrote:But you still didn't answer... Like I said, there is a chance that I won't finish this to my satisfaction, but whatever it is when the deadline comes, that's what I'm submitting.
I'm not sure what else you want me to tell you. I'm putting more work into this piece than anything else I've ever done in my life just to finish with a 'respectable" showing.

I only wish I'd done this with my ex-wife!wagtunes wrote:I'm auditioning literally dozens of candidates for each part and picking the ones I think best fit. ... I'm putting more work into this piece than anything else I've ever done in my life

Yeah, well let me tell you. If after doing all this work I still finish at the bottom, it will be my last ex wife.z.prime wrote:I only wish I'd done this with my ex-wife!wagtunes wrote:I'm auditioning literally dozens of candidates for each part and picking the ones I think best fit. ... I'd like to see a OSOTMPC
One-Synth-One-Track-Many-People-Challenge
Seeing how other people compose/edit/tweak etc would be really insightful.
I've no idea how this would work though ..
github for audio/midi ??

You'd have issues merging anything with these binary formats... There's a MusicXML format, but probably not a whole lot of support across DAWs (also the audio would be Base64 encoded blobs).rghvdberg wrote:One-Synth-One-Track-Many-People-Challenge

well, no actual merging of audio or midi but you could duplicate a track, make edit's and comment what you did and why ..
dunno, just brainstorming.
I don't know how willing other people are to reveal their bag of tricks.

Basically what OhmStudio was intended to offer - one DAW, one track, many composers - concurrently.

Can I do that even though it's not finished? I don't want it ending up in the OSC queue the way it is now.bjporter wrote:wagtunes wrote:

@wag: yep, just delete it and upload the final one when you're ready. Also, you can just post it here and not share it to the group...

I like it so far Wag, very catchy, theres one thing letting it down though for me and thats the timing/ lag of that lead melody. If you can tighten that up I think you is gonna do well in this round.
Just my 2 euros

Believe it or not, the lead is quantized. I don't know how to make it any tighter.bibz1st wrote:I like it so far Wag, very catchy, theres one thing letting it down though for me and thats the timing/ lag of that lead melody. If you can tighten that up I think you is gonna do well in this round.

Okay, just for the hell of it, I took another look at the piano roll to see what I did.bibz1st wrote:I like it so far Wag, very catchy, theres one thing letting it down though for me and thats the timing/ lag of that lead melody. The first 3 notes are quantized dead on the 8th notes.
Then, the next group of 9 notes, I started in between beats to give it a more human feel. So I took the first 3 of those notes and quantized them to the 8th and I just don't like the way it sounds. It's too robotic for my taste. It ruins the human feel.
So, if that ruins it for you, oh well, that's life. I don't like that part on the beat. I like it off the beat slightly, which is what it is.
Now I can go spend a week mucking around with it and try out all different kinds of rhythms but then there is no way this thing gets done as I still have too many parts to fill in.
At some point, I have to say "this is the way this part is going to be."
