Should I go on Soundcloud?

Hi,
I'd like to ask some advice from you people who are used to being on Soundcloud ...
I am just an amateur hobbyist who likes making 'sonic sculptures'.
I made up a small piece that I think is nicely suitable for the upcoming Halloween ...
Now I'd like to 'publish' it, so I can present it to my loved ones.
So ... should I go on Soundcloud? It has a nice interface, but is it really suited for this kind of 'music'? And is the free usage of it really 'hassle-free'?
I have no desire or intention of selling my 'music', so I think Bandcamp is less suitable?
Thoughts please ...?

It's probably the best thing out there for sharing music right now. It's for any style of music. It has a lot of support across the net for embedding etc. Go for it

I use it for entering remix competitions and to publish new tracks since a couple of weeks, and did not regret it - no hassles, no disadvantages for me, just a great publishing platform even when using their free accounts.

Well let me put it this way, Soundcloud sucks. I hate it so very much. The app is the worst app out there and has me swearing every time I begrudgingly open it.

I think everyone who's used SoundCloud could think of ways it could be better but yeah, for what it is it's pretty easy to use (and also pretty easy to share your stuff with others). If your stuff's only intended for friends and family you can make your tracks private so that only people who have the links can access it.
But there are certainly no genre restrictions on SoundCloud. It doesn't even have to be music (there are a lot of podcasts on SoundCloud for example).
YouTube is another popular alternative, of course. I think there are even services now that will encode a music video for you (you just upload your track and some cover art) so posting a song to YouTube is just as fast as posting to SoundCloud. YouTube also lets you make your uploads private.

Why not, its an easy way to share your music for the public. You have unlimited play time, but only 120 minutes in total (AFAIR).zxant wrote:
