UVI Falcon - v4 = 2026 released - rumors, ads, praise, kindergarden, auto-sampling and off-topic inside!

No mention of it or upgrade path from MachFive on the MOTU website. They used to call Machfive UVI Workstation's Bigger brother, looks like a bigger brother has moved in that doesn't live in MOTU's house !

That tool looks nice! I had a look at the manual and i think it would be a nice addition to other hybrids like Alchemy 2 and Omnisphere 2.... but it could never replace them in many ways and vice versa.
The UI looks better than Alchemy´s blurry old school or Omnisphere´s UI.
The intro price seems not bad but i think i have enough tools in this area
Most important for me.... endless modulations. So Alchemy 2 is the winner here

For granular synthesis only? Of course but it might even be overkill. If it’s for granular purpose only as you requested, I don't think you need to go that heavy. Other granular synths already do the grain job really well and beat Alchemy all the way. But in bonus with the Falcon though, you get tons of other crazy stuff other grain synths don't. Matter of where's your focus is.Caine123 wrote:could this be the alternative to ALCHEMY for granular synthesis finally?

I have absolutely no need of Falcon whatsoever. I have all these capabilities elsewhere, many times over. Omnisphere 2 alone pretty much covers the same ground.
I'll buy it the moment I get home from work.

Any idea if Kontakt 6 will cover what Falcon does?EvilDragon wrote:I would say don't sell Kontakt if you have a use for it. For certain things it's still the way to go. Falcon is a worthy addition, but not a complete replacement, at least IMHO.

Yes, and it sucks. We should be given an upgrade path, IMO. No matter what they say, THIS is an upgraded Mach Five.Pianopaul wrote:fmr wrote:Named Mach Five or named something else, it has to be a continuation of Mach Five, since it's coming from the same developers. Well, in the sum of it's parts there is nothing like Alchemy 1 and certainly nothing like Alchemy 2.
Absynth 6
Kontakt 6
Massive 2
Iris 3
Padshop Pro 2
Well that is if I can get Falcon for $195 at JRR plus the $100 library coupon.
Yea that will work for me.
Honestly, i wanted to know for a long time (just a hands did not reach to try fresh demo, once I tried it seems the first version, but granular there was nothing found, perhaps missed something).

Different tools, different purposes. They are not even trying to be each others replacements and cover the same ground.GHOST19 wrote:Any idea if Kontakt 6 will cover what Falcon does?EvilDragon wrote:I would say don't sell Kontakt if you have a use for it. Sampleconstruct wrote:For me the most important novelties in Falcon are the new granular engine which finally supports multiple grain streams (a la Padshop Pro/HALion, adds different grain shapes and offers lot's of other grain controls, the main problem in the old granular engine was that each grain would fade in over time so percussive sounds were not possible, this has now been solved.
And there is the new model synth, similar to Chromaphone I would say where you can also use samples to excite the resonators, either following key or with a static pitch. I shall post some demos soon with sounds I made for the factory library.
And the new FX modules are awesome, so is the total GUI redesign. More info later...
So if you could only choose one, would it be Falcon or Halion 5
