:tu: thanks.

Cool, the intro price would probably be the same as a MF4 upgrade, so all things considered it's not that much of a downer for MF3 owners.

Im actually quite happy that UVI has taken it over, always thought it was holding it back.

Seems an utterly complete synth, overwhelming even, must have taken a lot of time and effort to make it. The user interface looks nice (the colored rings around knobs seem like those in Massive) and usable. The effects look very professional. If that complex instrument is without bugs and issues, it would be impressive.
Judging from the video it sounds quite polished and plasticky, almost a bit sterile at times (a bit like Tone2 stuff), though, especially for that price. Good for some genres, not so good for others, I suppose. Despite the price I think it will sell well. The Swiss army knife effect that also helped SynthMaster...

There's no software without bugs, nor will there ever be. That said, from my experience with MF3 and now Falcon, it's very reliable.

I mean we had almost 5 months of Alpha/Beta, most bugs are ironed out, I couldn't find any more in the end.

Yeah that's true - however when software gets out in the wide (and wild) world, all those different configurations are certain to prop up some bugs from time to time. It's inevitable. But UVI is quick on the case and updates will sort those out, so no worries there.

I was thinking about the difference in soundset sizes between MF3 and Falcon. MF3 has a lot of things like their Telecaster thingy that has a very complex script going on and no doubt a massive set of multisamples to go with it. Multiply that by several and you get into the multi-gigbytes. I didn't have time tonight to dive into the factory content and see how much is really there, but I'm inclined to think that it's not that important unless you just want their instruments (as in MF3). Most of them, I could skip over. Since I already had them, I'm golden. Regardless, this looks a bit more polished than MF3, although MF3 looks pretty good (unlike, say UVI Workstation, that looks like the freeware that it is). I've had nary a hiccup so far.

As Fluffy said, it has the Massive/Serum style moving modulation rings around the knobs. Looking forward to dragging and dropping some sounds into it tomorrow to see what I come up with. I think it was worth the low intro price even as an MF3 and Halion 5 owner.

Yeah, you can do that much the same as in Kontakt - just the language is different.
Eanna wrote:Yeah. The LUA api only covers Midi generation, what they call "pre-synthesis data"... That's cool, but I do wish they extended it to allow programmatic access to automatable controls for example...
As is, it's nice, but nothing your DAW couldn't do really (in terms of Midi synthesis, before it hits the plugin)...
Yeah, you could get fancy with "intelligent chorders" and that...
It doesn't "just" cover MIDI generation, it can also remote control any engine parameter etc. Pretty much the same as in Kontakt, and then some.
thanks for that info

Is there a demo for this?

No, which is strange as it's iLoK.
Mac Studio M4
15.7.3
Cubase 15, Ableton Live 12

Falcon doesn't need samples to produce good sounds, many people still perceive it as a “sampler“ and complain about the small library size, obviously they are missing something essential here.

How about changing the title to The Falcon has landed 8)

If they added a DAW-style sequencer, the whole thing would turn into a complete music production system. The mixing console already looks better than with most DAWs in my view.

Yes, would be nice to have a demo, I mean, who pays 200+ dollars without knowing that thing even runs well on their computer? I have 3 GB left this month, so for the first time I could actually download and try a UVI product  Their sampling instruments are way too big for me, but this one seems to be a real synth rather than a sampler with synth features put on top.

Post

It's really both a synth and a sampler (well, except it doesn't actually sample, but...)

Post

As there is no demo and UVI are mute on subject,
Can anyone confirm that M5 v3 instruments (Upright, e.g.) work fine in Falcon?

Thnks

Indeed, the majority of presets are non sample-based. Here’s an example: Preset "Eighty Nine”...
Layer 1: Analog engine x2, FM engine, Analog Chorus
Layer 2: Analog engine, Analog filter
Layer 3: FM engine, Xpander filter, Dual delay, EQ, Wide, Sparkverb
All layers: Analog Tape delay, Sparkverb

With this being such a huge beast of a synth, how are the load times? I mean how long does it take for the UI to pop up and be usable after you add it to a track? Omnisphere has horrible load times for example...
