Faster than Omni. On my system: Falcon loads in about 4 seconds. Omni 2 loads in about 20 seconds (with the latest update).
No SSDs here.

And what about .M5p and .M5m files that we have made ourselves? Will they open in Falcon?Apostrophe wrote: Can anyone confirm that M5 v3 instruments (Upright, e.g.) work fine in Falcon?
Thnks
This whole episode is bizarre for Motu MF customers. I mean it's a bit like someone other than Native Instruments just released Kontakt again under another name er... Kestrel?...with a few tweaks here and there but basically the same GUI and engine.
It's true that this price is about the same a Motu would charge for an update so it's tempting to jump ship.
Strange indeed.....

Yes, Falcon opens MF3 stuff witihout any problems.
Also the GUI is hardly the same, there have been some quite involving changes in it.

A new instance appears instantly for me, as well as when opening an instance that has a patch loaded using the built-in oscillators. Since I haven't used any sample based patches I can't say anything regarding those, but in general Falcon seems incredibly well optimized.Liero wrote:With this being such a huge beast of a synth, how are the load times? I mean how long does it take for the UI to pop up and be usable after you add it to a track?

I know this is going to sound incredibly mercenary (and honestly, I don't even care) but with all the synths I own, the only reason I ever buy a synth anymore is if I think it's going to be popular enough that 3rd party sound libraries to be potential big sellers.
How do you see this synth in that area? Omni did well for me so I don't think price will be too big a factor though I know this is out of the reach of some people. What about the company popularity? Is it on par with U-he, NI and Spectrasonics?
Spending $229 on something that I really don't need is foolish for me at this stage of my life unless there is the potential for ROI on it.
So what do you think? Is this going to be a niche synth or will it be popular with sound designers jumping all over it?

How about wait a year and see?
If you don't need it now then you don't need it now. Simple as that...

I was thinking much the same thing, it seems like its just a few features short of being a proper DAW. With the modules included and the architecture I reckon it could be a fairly decent one too.fluffy_little_something wrote:If they added a DAW-style sequencer, the whole thing would turn into a complete music production system. The mixing console already looks better than with most DAWs in my view.

Well, everyone stopped talking about Relayer pretty quickly after the price went up.wagtunes wrote:So what do you think? Is this going to be a niche synth or will it be popular with sound designers jumping all over it?

It seems expensive, but if it is as powerful as it seems to be judging from the user interfaces and descriptions, it would actually be a bargain.
My only concern would be the sound character as such...
For instance, the analog osc shown in the video does not exactly blow me away. But then again, maybe the video is not the best...

Yeah Falcon is basically MF4.pinki wrote:if the oscillators are a straight port from Mach Five 3 then they are fabulous oscillators.

Thanks guys!
One more question:
Exactly how does Falcon make use of other UVI Workstation products? Can you stick them anywhere you like, can you process and modulate their own parameters using Falcon modulators? Can you maybe even use a soundbank built-in effect on a Falcon oscillator or stuff like that?
This is something that even the manual doesn't really go into.

For me the exact opposite...software that pushes me to make my own sounds is where I want to be, and MF3/Falcon does exactly this
