Hi guys,
Just wanted to let you know that if you're in the market for something a bit leftfield and peculiar, our new Kontakt instrument Platter might be up your street. Imagine the forbidden, forgotten lovechild of an Optigan and a Solina, finally brought blinking out of the shadows of the attic and into the light...

Platter is basically a three-oscillator analogue synth, but each and every waveform that makes it up was pressed to vinyl and resampled – first from a 1960s Dancette record player, and then from a wonderful 1910 hand-cranked gramophone. You can switch between source waveforms on a per-oscillator basis, allowing you to craft synth patches that instantly sound as though they've been timewarped from the distant past

There are additional controls for needle-down scuff noise, and a looped groove crackle that can be dialled up; plus each oscillator benefits from an individual set of controls including amp envelope, tremolo, and high-pass filter (which is great for grafting some of the 1910-era high-end onto a 1960s-era body). Platter excels at string and string-machine style beds, washes with a vintage vinyl flavour, B-movie horror swells, black and white punting scenes on the river of your choice, and darkly ethereal unsettling backdrops.
We've also included our Glitch control for instant, musically-randomised inspiration: new patches are only a click away!
Platter is out now; it requires Kontakt version 4.2.3 or later. You can hear audio demos of it in crackly, warped action here:

We've also got a Hallowe'en special on Haunted Piano – just £3.50 instead of the usual £7! If you fancy getting your spook on ahead of this weekend, you can grab that bit of sonic malevolence here:
