1. Can i modulate with audio rate and can i use any OSC as modulation source?

2. Can i go deeper than just modulate a modulator. I want f.e. modulate a modulator which modulates a modulated modulator etc. Or modulate this way just parts of a modulator :D
Most software is not very flexible here. (Still searching for something for desktop which can things like i can do with my tiny iPhone synth Mitosynth)

3. Can i use as many LFO, MSEG etc. like i want or is there a limit?

4. Do i really need Falcon? :D :D :D
1. No, during Alpha I begged for an input in the FM synth for using samples as FM modulators, not possible.

2. Yes, you can go as deep as your brain can follow.

3. Yes, like in Alchemy. Also you can use the arp per layer, as many layers as you like, Alchemy 2 allows for 4 arps in 4 sources.

4. Who cares :tu:[/quote]

Just to complete my dumb questions since i was confused by just one sub modulator for a modulation source..... :

Can i f.e. modulate the osc volume with a LFO, then modulate the depth of that LFO with a second LFO. The second LFO´s rate could be modulated by a third LFO.... the third LFO´s phase and rate will be modulated by LFO 4 and 5. These could be also modulated etc. etc.... LFOception. And all these LFO (or other modulation sources like MSEG etc.) should be work in mono and polyphonic per voice/note!
If this is possible i will get it, since no software synth (on my notebook) will do this or running out of modulation sources (Alchemy 2 is the only which comes near but it´s also limited here where i want to experiment more).

Hey,all; thanks so much for this vast and detailed thread, and for all the vids, Simon. Sealed the deal for me, esp. since I've had M5 for a few years but never really got comfy with it, unlike Falcon which I'm already really enjoying. Not without many questions, of course, mostly basic, but involving both Falcon and using it with M5 files, etc. So, would this be a good place to ask them, or is there some other thread/KVR-area for that?

I said yes, so yes again, as many polyphonic LFOs, multi envelopes, step sequencers, envelopes as you want on as many levels you want.

Nice to read. Since you tested the instrument heavily I take your words. Thanks for that.

Actually I did it (or had to do it) the hard way and created a whole set of presets during Beta which was painful at times as quite a few presets got lost on the way due to unexpected crashes, a lot of time was burned, things didn't work as they should, but that way I tested every micro inch of Falcon over and over again which was well worth it.

Thank´s...... that´s what someone could call a sound designers wet dream :tu:

..... o.k. it´s just missing then OSC as modulation source, resynthesis and a wavetable editor. But i guess THAT one synth will never exist. However, in a few years A.I. synths will do everything for us :borg:

Well, if your questions are about Falcon, just shoot :tu:

At the very least I think they owe us an explanation instead of ignoring MacFive users completely as if we don't exist.
Especially considering development of MachFive is dead. I've sent them a polite email inquiring about this situation. I'd suggest other MachFive owners do the same.

I find that very hard to believe. In fact, I don't believe it for one minute. How can a VST crash a DAW so badly that you have to reinstall the DAW? A VST can't rewrite any of the DAW's files, can it?

I just tried a very mixed collection of sfz files:
- Most simple ones work just fine by drag and drop on the Interface. Layers and mappings looked good in a quick glance.
- More involved ones, like the ones that come with the sforzando player didn't load.
- sf2 didn't load either.
So I'd say it's not the most advanced import but good for quickly getting your mappings in.

Cheers,

Tom

Edit: All the Zampler SFZ files seem to load fine too :-)

Not the point.

There is no 100% guarantee that a piece of software will run on a person's particular system. That is a fact.

I've got about fifteen commercial VSTs, and have installed scores of free ones, and NEVER had one not work on Renoise (which I used to use) or FL Studio. You're just talking nonsense and spreading FUD all over this thread, seriously. If it doesn't run on your "particular" system, you contact support and they fix it. But since that is almost never likely to happen (that it won't run), you have nothing to worry about. What DAW do you use?

He's not alone and it does in fact happen. Your comment is the FUD here.

I'm using Cubase 7.07. I haven't upgraded to 8 or even to 7.5 because of all the problems users were reporting at the time and I had projects that I had to finish. And since my Cubase was very stable as long as I didn't use 32 bit plugs (I'm on Windows 7 64 bit) there was no point in upgrading and I won't until I absolutely have to.

To answer your other question, you can believe whatever you want. I installed AIR Loom, which I really loved the sound of not to mention how versatile it was, and after making some edit to a patch I received an error message the kind I'd never seen in Cubase. It was a big white box and something about critical error. I don't remember it exactly.

I then shut down Cubase and when I went to restart it, the thing it does upon starting, verifying VSTS, started verifying DLLs that were not VSTs and the system just went completely nuts. I could not get Cubase to start up clean after that so I had to reinstall. It was a total nightmare. I never want to go through that again.

So believe whatever you want. I really don't care.

So... here is a question.

Falcon can load UVI instruments.
Will UVI Workstation be able to load Falcon instruments (with the new drunk LFO for example.. and other tidbits that were previously not in the UVI Workstation)?
I read more than post = I listen more than I talk

I have no idea, never used the workstation, a dev should answer this one.
