would love to demo it.... to see how drones are made and how nice you can modulate and maybe link other synthesis modules to get a vast soundscape. like granulating a sound, then layering another and at the same time having sampled a third sound with normal sampler module. is this possible?
this is what i do in alchemy and get such nice results, only thing im missing in alchemy 1 is drag and drop feature + visual waveform display.....

There are plenty of reasons why someone with M53 would want Falcon.woodsdenis wrote: If I had Mach 3 I would look on Falcon as Mach5 v4 and buy it and use it only if I needed the extra osc and fx, other wise it would be pointless.
If you look at it that way the "upgrade" from Mach 5v3 to Falcon is not that steep bearing in mind an upgrade from Mach 5 v2 to 3 is $175.
.
A good portion of UVI libraries not working in M53 is an example, so no modifying them...
Personally I would be happy if UVI threw M53 owners a small bone on top of the introductory price, even splitting the "upgrade" cost and knocking it down to $200.
I just spent $275 in the marketplace on some killer deals, but it's going to be hard not to "upgrade" to Falcon before the sale is done.

That and then some...Caine123 wrote:would love to demo it.... to see how drones are made and how nice you can modulate and maybe link other synthesis modules to get a vast soundscape. like granulating a sound, then layering another and at the same time having sampled a third sound with normal sampler module. is this possible?

The number of modules is only limited by your computer capacity.
Cheers,
Tom

if you want to look at it that way, you must also consider what an upgrade price actually is. It is a price that is discounted to existing licensees of a previous version, so that it both acknowledges previous investment and offers the new version at a price that is cheaper than what a random stranger off the street pays to get the same thing.woodsdenis wrote:If you look at it that way the "upgrade" from Mach 5v3 to Falcon is not that steep bearing in mind an upgrade from Mach 5 v2 to 3 is $175.
so in the case of machfive 3, the stranger pays $459 and the individual who is upgrading pays $175. That's a decent discount. that is an upgrade price.
in the case of Falcon, the stranger and the existing licensee pay the exact same fee. there is no discount or acknowledgment for existing licensees who will be paying twice for largely the same code. there is no upgrade price.
you can look at it anyway you like, i suppose. that doesn't change the facts.
the least we can get - from UVI - is an official statement on this issue of crossgrade pricing. (since a simple rebrand doesn't absolve them from obligation to offer a discount as far as I'm concerned. ethically speaking at least. so rebrand, sure, but we just adjust the semantics a little from 'upgrade' to 'crossgrade')

Does anybody know how many presets it has? I can't find the answer on the UVI website.

Exactly, I just bought MachFive earlier this year, basically I'm now being told that it is no longer being developed so I have wasted my money, and furthermore have to pay again for something that is still essentially an upgrade to MachFive only they can't call it that.Daags wrote: in the case of Falcon, the stranger and the existing licensee pay the exact same fee. there is no discount or acknowledgment for existing licensees who will be paying twice for largely the same code. there is no upgrade price.

Does it really matter? It has lots. What difference does it make if it's 1000 or 2000? More to wade through, woohoo.basslinemaster wrote:Does anybody know how many presets it has? I can't find the answer on the UVI website.

I get that it would be a layer of difficulty for sure. With the current price $229 and the old upgrade cost of $175 as a comparison it's $54. Not a huge chunk of change to cross reference licenses with a company (MOTU) that you very possibly are stopping doing business with.aMUSEd wrote:Exactly, I just bought MachFive earlier this year, basically I'm now being told that it is no longer being developed so I have wasted my money, and furthermore have to pay again for something that is still essentially an upgrade to MachFive only they can't call it that.Daags wrote: in the case of Falcon, the stranger and the existing licensee pay the exact same fee. there is no discount or acknowledgment for existing licensees who will be paying twice for largely the same code. there is no upgrade price.
I do think they should have done something, but I get how all of it would be very possibly messy and time consuming. As it stands it's $54 more than the last upgrade, not good, but not terrible.
Like most people I got MachFive 3 for $270 with the crossgrade offer, so it seems high, but M53 outright is $499, and realistically I've had upgrades from companies like Ableton go up 50% or more over the years. I still emailed them about it, don't expect a reply but hey..

Ok I bit and bought...from Best Service with their discount (I usually use JRR, but I am thin with the Charity thing going on). Just waiting on my serial so I can give it a spin. Thanks to Simon for the nice YouTube videos and demos. Great sound quality from what I hear.
I can't believe I got excited about this...I have passed on a dozen things this year (because I own everything else, ha) and I have Halion Sonic 2 and Reaktor 5 (hope to get 6 with the next Komplete Ultimate update) which feels similar. But there is some character to this instrument in the demos I have heard that I feel will be inspiring.
Hope I am right.
