Well, there are also tons and tons of presets for each module, effect, oscillator etc.
If someone is not comfortable with doing his/her own sounds from scratch, he/she still can change any part of the sound with presets, so the number of "main" presets is misleading.

For instance: take the Experimental -> "Contremy Bass" Program.
It uses a wavetable osc for it's sound.
The wavetable osc has dozens and dozens of presets (single and multi waveform) and you can step through them with little arrows directly on top of the waveform in the edit page. Each time you chose another wave, you get a pretty much completely different sound, although the modulations etc. stay the same.
This is pretty much true for every level of Falcon and very easy to do even for people who do not dive in deeper.
You don't like the reverb? Go to the Effects tab and either step through the presets directly on the reverb, choose one from the dropdown or quickly delete it and drag in a new reverb preset from the browser.

So yes, if you are looking for a pure preset player, Falcon may be not for you.
But if you are interested in combining presets on every level, Falcom should keep you busy for years.

I think I personally found my "Alchemy replacement" and actually like it better.
I can live with what may be missing but there is also a lot more possible in other areas.
And some of what's "missing" could be scripted...

Cheers,

Tom

+1 Tom the vast amount of variation that can be achieved is amazing, I said earlier in the thread this is not a Rompler, if you want that get Kontakt/Halion
Mac Studio M4
15.7.3
Cubase 15, Ableton Live 12

One thing I see here is that there are those that cannot accept objectivity from the "informed". Where else would you get answers? The minute someone answers they are suddenly "working for the man". Of the two or three "informed" posters I have read in this thread, they have provided answers that would not skew a purchase either way.

Well I am uninformed and objective. I have nothing to gain. I got it. It sounds awesome. The presets that are there are awesome and inspiring out of the box. You could combine a few presets within seconds and have a whole new sound without tweaking the first knob. But should you choose to tweak, you have countless EASY TO GET TO possibilities.

I think this is a big deal and I welcome devs to hop on this boat and create some awesomeness for us. I was late with Omnisphere but I got it this year and only regretted I did not get it sooner. Falcon will be around for a long time...but I am not late to party with this one. Like other VST out there, they all are different and have their own color, flavor, appeal, callitwhatyouwant, and this fits nicely into my ungodly huge library of products.

Kindly,

Jon

Just a heads up here that there is a Halloween20 rebate at Best Service, if you live outside EU you don't have to pay VAT, the price I get listed at checkout is €184, which is about $200

The current Euro to Dollar is 1.10 so without VAT (outside Europe) it comes to exactly $202.90.

You're absolutely sure that if I live in the US that I don't have to pay VAT? Because with VAT, it's actually cheaper for me to buy directly from UVI.

I didn't buy it, but at checkout I got listed a price to pay without VAT, I live outside EU

Well there's been a lot of controversy on this thread. But I think people are failing to ask the most important queation:

World Traditions or Spirit of Gongs?

Thanks. Purchased and downloaded. So far so good.

Question for somebody who has installed this already.

What is the Falcon-1.0.0.dmg file for? It doesn't appear to be any form of executable.

Post

Mac disc image file. Similar to a .iso file.

If you're on Windows, then you don't need it.

They are both not exactly mindblowing IMO.
Nice as a giveaway and World Tradition may be more versatile at that, but compared to other libraries in the area they both are quite "shallow".
But I'm generally not the biggest fan of UVI sample libraries, so take it with a grain of salt.

Tom

Will UVI Workstation be able to load Falcon instruments (with the new drunk LFO for example.. and other tidbits that were previously not in the UVI Workstation)?
I own MachFive 3, Falcon, and obviously UVIWorkstation.
  • My original MachFive programs/patches show up in the UVIWorkstation browser, but don't load.
  • My original Falcon programs also show up in the UVIWorkstation browser, but don't load.
  • The Falcon factory library shows up in UVIWorkstation, and all presets I've tried loaded.
  • Falcon loads both my Falcon programs (*.uvip) and my MachFive programs (*.M5p)
So, does the latest UVI Workstation have the technologies required to play Falcon patches? Yes it does.

Can you load your own Falcon/MachFive patches into UVI Workstation? Doesn't look like it; at least it's not working here.

I believe UVI Workstation is to Falcon what Kontakt Player is to Kontakt in that the free player is only intended for licensed content, not user-generated libraries.

I don't think I got the voucher but I don't really care. Will probably never use it anyway.

So if I live in the EU, what's the cheapest price?
Thanks.
