Hey,
just got my copy of the new Beat issue, and included on the DVD, there is Bitwig 8-Track.
Just a heads up for the people interested, i'm installing it right now. Will be interesting to see if it supports Rewire, so i can connect it to my main DAW. In any case a nice opportunity to see what Bitwig is like.

I already installed it yesterday, without even getting the DVD
8-track has so far been given away with the Nektar midi controller.
It is limited in the tracks department, but it comes with all the plugs Bitwig has. Which is just fantastic, that is one free polysynth and one free 4 op FM, a cool sampler, and lots and lots of effects
To me this rivals BeatZille for best magware this year
What took me a little while to understand is that the installer from Bitwig doesn't contain patches or sample content.
To get presets for the synths and effects and sample content one need to download those while in Bitwig 8-track, there is a menu option for that.

Wow, I knew that during the final season of the year some great magware will come up.
While 8 tracks may sound fairly limited for todays standards, I think one can do a lot within this limitation. It's also a great way to get into the Bitwig-vibe. I just happened to install the Bitwig demo a week ago, but I will now get the 8-Track version.
One question though: while I'm limited to 8 tracks, can I still use more than 1 output channel per each track? Let's say I have a drumset in one instrument (one track), but want to route every sound to a different channel in the mixer for effects / processing. I guess what I'm trying to ask: will the mixer support more than 8 channels (equivalent to the 8 tracks)?

Really like the GUI, nice clean and clear.
A big BUT though: Is there no way to add a generic Controller (mine isn't in the list of supported devices) with more than 8 knobs? It's either that or pure MIDI key Input without additional controls.

Have you consulted the manual that got installed with it, on page 12 there is a sub-chapter devoted to:
0.1.2.3. Setting Up MIDI Controllers
0.1.2.3. Setting Up MIDI Controllers

How is this magazine called? Beat? Or Beatzille?
8 tracks is more than enough for me.

Thanks! I'm going to see if I can find it. Too bad it's in German because the magazine is probably expensive and for the money it would have been nice if I could read the articles as well.
