And you can also use the browser on the right,c lick on the sound symbol at the top and all oscillators will appear in a list.

Post

Right, that's a bit more wordy. But from an empty instance of Falcon (freshly loaded), Ctrl+N is all it takes to get it going - at least in standalone :)

Or just this:

LOL, we are crossposting here like crazy.

Sorry, Simon. Hehe. :)

Can Falcon load Kontakt .nki's? I seem to recall that MF3 was able to, at least until Kontakt 4. (sorry if this has been answered somewhere in the previous 33 pages).

Don't be sorry, it was just getting chaotic for a minute

The list of supported file formats is on the Falcon product page.

I can load rex loops , my existing UVI libraries , but cannot for the life of me figure out how to load the synthesis patches . I keep looking into the manual but it's mostly screen shots and descriptions. I do not see anywhere where to load the Analog stacks , etc. Am I missing something ?
First create a program in the Tree vie on the left - right click-> New Program, then right click->Add Layer, then right click->Add Keygroup, now choose a synthesis type from the oscillator drowdown menue and off you go. Maybe save a template for each synthesis type later.
From an empty Multi, the fastest way I found is to drag and drop an oscillator from the browser on the key range at the bottom - depending on where you drag it spans all or part of the keys...

Cheers,

Tom

otristan wrote:Hi all,

Thanks for your enthusiasm around Falcon, we’re very excited to hear what you create with it!

To MachFive3 owners, we hear you and understand.
We can’t comment just yet but please know that we’re working on something for you.
Expect concrete info early this next week.

Whatever the final form is, we’ll make sure it considers both users who have yet to purchase Falcon and those that already have.

Thanks,

hmmm. welcome. but it smells like a content offer, unless you're going to go around issuing partial refunds - which is unlikely.

i roll my own, so a content offer isn't much appeasement... unless it's very significant.

hard to believe you couldn't have foreseen this issue before launch. rather than wilfully walking in to a situation where you can claim your 'hands are tied' re: crossgrade pricing

What's new in the UVI engine:

New Oscillators:

- Pluck: Physically inspired string synthesis but aimed toward synthetic sounds with a natural decay. (Be sure to check all the parameters using the inspector of the TreeView panel)
- Wavetable now supports wavescanning with a "position" knob as well as different phase distortion algorithm.. Wavetables with multiple slices can be imported either using one channel per slice or by concatenating slices and tagging the filename with the wavetable period (for example: "MySaw_2048.wav").
- Noise includes new kind of noises (velvet, chaos... etc)
- Analog and Wavetable now supports new unison mode (now default one) with a bigger detune range and hard panning which generates more phase evolution
- Ircam Scrub is a sample based scrubbing algorithm using the same algorithm as in Ircam Stretch
- Ircam Multi granular: a unisson capable and expanded version of ircam Granular

New FXs:

- Tilt filter
- Dual Delay is two channel delay which features a rotation feedback matrix and delay time modulation allowing classic ping pong delays as well as space exploration
- Diffusion is the diffusion algorithm available in SparkVerb as a standalone FX
- SparkVerb now features a pre delay parameter
- EffectRack allows to create new effects by connecting several effects in series into FX chains and in parallel using multiple FX chains. (navigation into the FX chains can be done through the Tree view and breadcrumb on top of the FX tabs)
- CrossOver allows to isolate a specific spectrum band using Linkwitz filter commonly found in multi band processors. It has been designed to be used with the new EffectRack in order to easily achieve multi band FXs.
- VowelFilter: allows you to morph between 2 vowels
- Waveshaper includes different shaping algorithm to create custom distortion
- Phase Meter allows audio signal phase display and analysis
- Redux is an analog-like bit-crusher and sample rate reducer (using proper antialiasing filter before decimation in order to only keep intentional aliasing)
- SVF: State variable filter multimode filter
- Convolver is an efficient convolution algorithm dedicated to small IRs
- Big Pi Tone: Emulation of the tone stack of the Big Muff pedal
- ToneStack: Emulation of several amp and preamp tone stacks

New Event Processors:

- MIDI player MIDI file playback with transposition feature
- Arpeggiator now features a pitch and MIDI CC value per step as well as a more than 100% gate time.
Tie step as well

New Modulation sources:

- Drunk is a random-walk modulation source aimed at simulating natural randomness commonly found in many processes (pitch drift, cutoff variation... etc)
- Analog ADSR: an ADSR based on classic RC decay characteristic with EE decay time constant definition T=RC. should feel much closer to vintage synth feel than the precise digital ADSR.
- Attack Decay: smooth second order envelope
- LFO now features a user-drawn waveform
- Spline mode in step envelope

And other goodies here and there

Thanks guys! I initially dropped it into the keyboard at the bottom to get it to load up after adding the keygroup was suggested. But yes , I think I will start saving template patches for each one to make things easier. The manual seems very vague about getting started. It's mostly images and descriptions. I'm going to read the entire manual and dive into this instrument to get as much use out of it as possible.

@otristan Thanks for the overview.

Is there any information on how to work with surround sound?
- I can't get it activated in the VST version, the Configure menu is missing.
- I am unable to find how to surround-pan sounds in the standalone.
Is there any information on this?

Cheers,

Tom

SJ_Digriz wrote:Simon, a couple of questions about the granular engine if you don't mind. I can't view the video where I am now .. so you may cover this in the video. Sorry if this is covered already.

Do we have directional control of the grains (reverse playback)?
If so can you split forward and reverse grains in the same patch?
Yes, there is a direction parameter like in HALion, as the oscillators work on keygroup level you could layer 2 keygroups and use positive direction values in one, and negative values in the other. Also there is a “Reverse“ button in the granular module which reverses each grain, this isn't covered in that video.
Thanks
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Cinebient wrote:Next question... (sorry). Can i use reversed reverb like in Alchemy 2?
I saw now in the best service shop it will raise up to 375€ after intro. Now that 219€ (with voucher) sounds not bad.
This whole thing looks really like a whole DAW without sequencer :)
Falcon has a convolution reverb (no, it has 2 different ones), load reversed IRs or anything you would like to resonate, but there is no reverse switch in those modules.
O.k. thank you!
What i miss is a XY pad(s) or even morphing snapshots like Alchemy. Would be interesting if i could maybe modulate between layers. I mean f.e. that a lfo could modulate the volume or whatever between different layers or patches etc.
Then i would like to use f.e. 10 or more different samples per note and blend between them via an lfo or other modulation source..... oh damn, the only way to get all my answers seems to buy it... :o
I have the feeling i can´t resist.... :borg:
