After studying this table it appears to me that this version is limited to the use of 2 VST/VSTi's. This seems a bit too restrictive to get a feel for the D.A.W. however the BEAT Edition may differ.

It's hard to tell from the magazine images but i don't think this is a Beat 'branded' version of Bitwig - just the standard 8-Track so I'd be surprised if it was different.

I'm 99% certain that 8-Track given away with Beat is the same that is bundled with Nektar and that the feature comparison chart thus applies to the Beat giveaway

Of course it would be nice to load more VST's but as there is so many great synths, sampler and effects already included in Bitwig 8-track I don't really see the need for extra plugs

does anyone have a link to the respective page. On the falk media beat pages they have listed as latest issue 119 (November 2015), and I could not find any indication of a free Bitwig version ...

Too bad Bitwig can't Rewire

Live Lite will, and it comes with Korg's Gadget on the iPad I believe. It also supports more than two VSTs, but it does not grant access to its better plugins such as Operator. Today it too is limited to 8 tracks, though in the past it was up to 20 (at least Live Intro was.)

You could use both for different reasons, but workflow seriously would become an issue! Also, keep in mind that eight tracks includes all Audio AND Send/Return channels.

If the aim is to record with it.

My aim is mostly to jam and play the synths in it

Yes, in your use case. However, Session View / Scenes are based on Audio tracks. With Rewire, you would rely on the other host's architecture. Bitwig has Jack; has anyone successfully gone this route? I'm curious as I always go back to Live if I Rewire the Audio.

FYI,you cannot copy and paste clips from Bitwig to another DAW, whereas you can with Live.

In both Live lite 9 and Bitwig 8-Track you get 8 audio/instrument tracks + 2 effect send/return channels.

Yup-- you are right, 8 tracks plus two sends; I just double checked. Since I use primarily for audio rewire, I overlooked the sends are in addition to the eight, not inclusive.

Yeah, unfortunately, that includes effects too, so basically, you create an Instrument track, then you add a FX, and you're done, and with the next VST(i) you add, Bitwig goes into demo mode.

I subscribe, so I feel justified when I install the product straight away instead of waiting for 3 weeks to get the mag by snailmail.
