thanks man, something i didnt see on the pics etc. if the sampler has options like reverse play and sample start options? + pitch

this is important as i already can imagine to do 1 patch with e.g. 2 granular sounds + 4 sampler layers etc. then you get an ultimate drone/soundscape :D
You can of course play sample reversed and change sample start :)
great! so Falcon should be a Drones creating paradise :D

Zebra doesn't support multi core on anything, no multi core button.
Same with Hive. No real need for it.

Bazzille and Diva both have prominent multi core buttons right up front. :)
Since I don't have Logic currently I can't test it. Using the multi core support 'seams' to have an affect on performance in Digital Performer and Live, but I have not run anything like a test to see if it works.

Urs did say that it didn't matter if the host only used one CPU per track, so it's possible that whatever he implemented would work in Logic etc.

All I'm getting at is that I wouldn't object at all if Falcon got multicore support in the future. I'm biased though, as I have a modified 12 core Mac from 2009, so it's powerful and relatively future proof, the more a DAW or plug in can use multi core.
A Mac from 2009? Nothing is (relatively) future proof

Does Falcon do host automation?
Or is it just like MF/Workstation MIDI CC only?

You can assign anything to one of the 128 host automation slots which are in turn seen by the host.

Post

And MF3 wasn't just MIDI CC only, you could use OSC as well (still can in Falcon).

Are there any dedicated controls/modules/etc. for vocal manipulation?

I was only referring to Logic...
Multicore in Diva definitely works in Logic... So do the other u-he synths that have the multicore option - Bazille and ACE

machinesworking wrote:OK a serious question from another forum (Motunation), can Falcon import/convert all the same file formats that MachFive 3 can? The PDF says nothing, and the web pages on both products make Falcon look like it can't.
Just some pages back otristan said that sfz is the only format supported for sample library import.
So people with Mach Five 3 should keep it as library converter ;-)

Cheers,

Tom
Why on earth would they decrease functionality? Maybe that was MOTU's contribution? or a third party deal?
It would be great to know what else is missing from the sampler side, so far M53 has a bigger library and converts older library formats... is that it? It's a PITA that the two can't have a fact sheet comparison.
I guess something is going on behind the curtains that they can't talk about.
Since we don't know why it's no longer Motu Mach Five and the reasons behind that move, we can only speculate.
Could be importer-licensing issues, could be they think it's a good idea to focus Falcon on UVI libraries (it isn't) or many other things we don't know anything about...
I don't care for the sample library (the only one I like (Xtreme FX) I already have) but more import options would have been good.

Cheers,

Tom

most likely relating to their contract with MOTU and they avoid being sued (by MOTU), by claiming Falcon is a 'hybrid sound design instrument' .... if they would include the option to import all those standard sampler formats, it would be in the same category as MachFive... which is to say, a multi-sampler instrument.

the contract probably allows use of the machfive format though. ironically enough.

/idle speculation

I hope this isn't inattention on my part, but...
I was trying to get Simons' Ambient Strings to stay somewhere convenient on the right pane so that I wouldn't need to drill down to it every time I want to load something. I tried setting the path and making it recursive (all three options, actually), but it won't stick. I know why it doesn't appear on soundsets (I think)- It's not a UFS file. No worries there. Guess I'll rtfm and figure how to get it into "Places" and dump the other random stuff that got there by default...
I knew that learning to read would pay off some day. :dog: :D

Places is your friend here, just right click on a location ones you have located it and it will get added to your favorite places.
