I figured you were using Pro Tools, their DAW seems very backwards in this aspect. I am guessing they want to sell their hardware control surfaces, just like they used to want to sell their audio interfaces. They now support third party audio interfaces, so I am hoping they will also support generic midi control surfaces soon as well, as many of their customers would appreciate this. I have asked on their developer forum what is going on and how come Pro Tools is the only DAW that doesn't support midi mapping to plugin parameters like this. I'll let you know the answer.jackson881 wrote:Thanks Andy. I use Ableton and Pro Tools mostly. Ableton is obviously easy to workaround, but there is no way that I know of to map MIDI to an effects plugin in Pro Tools unless the plugin has a MIDI learn feature and is set up to accept MIDI input.
Great to know that it will at least be coming in the future.

Thanks Andy. I appreciate you inquiring on the developer forum. MIDI in Pro Tools drives many people crazy. Looking forward to hearing what response you get.andy-cytomic wrote:I figured you were using Pro Tools, their DAW seems very backwards in this aspect. In the meantime, when MIDI Learn does come to The Drop, sending MIDI to the plugin from a MIDI track in Pro Tools will work completely fine with any generic MIDI controller.

Good news. The guys at Avid have said there is no political nor technical reason to prevent adding midi mapping to plugin parameters, it is just one of those things they haven't gotten around to doing. Now is the time to gather everyone that would like this feature added to PT and put together a petition to show how many people would appreciate this feature. Would you mind starting a new thread at KVR for this? Perhaps also one over at DUC? Then I can let the developers know about the threads and the overwhelming user support for such a useful feature.jackson881 wrote:Thanks Andy. I appreciate you inquiring on the developer forum. Someone who is friends with Dave Pensado should ask him to call out the viewers of his show about this.
And workingclassaudio also has a lot of listeners with connections to Audio Engineering schools. But he gets a lot of emails so best someone who knowes him should ask him to spread the word.

News: Over the past couple of weeks I've been busy optimising the filters to make them all more efficient. I've also come up with new algorithm to use to solve the MD filters which still uses a fixed amount of cpu but is much closer sound to the full HD filters at only a fraction more cpu. These new MD filter algorithms are able to solve all the current filter circuits, so now there will be MD versions of the MS1, SHR, JPR, and PRD
I've also implemented a new "Transposed SVF" (still to be named) which is a similar circuit to that used in the ARP Odyssey. These will be released in a free update soon.
Also today Live 9.5 has been released, which includes the new MD style PRD filters, and the current OSR MD, SMP MD, and MS2 MD filters from The Drop. These filters are included in Simpler, Sampler, Operator and Auto Filter.

Great news Andy! Especially the new filters in Live 9.5, which makes the sounddesign proces even more fun with those filters integrated. Kinda strange that they didn't put the filters in Analog, but maybe that's because it's an AAS synth(?). Anyway, looking forward to the Drop updateandy-cytomic wrote:News: Over the past couple of weeks I've been busy optimising the filters to make them all more efficient. Yep that's right, neither AAS nor Cycling '74 have licensed the new filters so they aren't in any stuff made by either of those companies.twolegstoneworks wrote:Great news Andy! It's ringing bells, I'll double check and let you know. Will make sure to get it fixed for the next release if not already done.meloco_go wrote:Andy, how about missing trigger on first hit bug? Was it ironed out already?

Any chance of adding post filter distortion? Something strong and agressive to make screeching sounds? I know I can use after The Drop another distortion plugin in chain, but I believe you can code it better.

Post filter distortion will require a pre and post level control for that drive as well as a tone control, so it's not really appropriate for The Drop. I do plan to write a synth amp section / distortion plugin in the future, but for now just chain two instances of The Drop and use one of the stomp box presets on the second.HcDoom wrote:Any chance of adding post filter distortion? Sounds like a great update - particularly for the CPU impaired (as myself)!andy-cytomic wrote:News: Over the past couple of weeks I've been busy optimising the filters to make them all more efficient. So cool to hear! Best update for us as the drop customers and the best feature (imho) of the 9.5 update of Ableton! Is there any sight on an ETA for this new version of the drop?andy-cytomic wrote:News: Over the past couple of weeks I've been busy optimising the filters to make them all more efficient.
