From a M5 3 owner who couldn't wait and has already purchased Falcon, if anyone from UVI is reading this, I personally would be happy with additional vouchers (to be honest I can't see any other solution for users who have already purchased!) .... but .... surely UVI has some new Falcon specific libraries waiting in the wings? As I already own most UVI libraries these vouchers (and the original $100 one) need to be valid until these new libraries are released. Just my 2 cents ..... what do you think ?

Sorry but there needs to be an upgrade path, I have no interest in additional UVI libraries, I already deleted half of the ones I have for MachFive. I just bought M5 earlier this year, only to be told it is no longer going to be developed - that's what should be taken into account.

I agree there should have been an upgrade path from the get-go, but I just don't think it's realistic for UVI to offer cash refunds for users who have already purchased (particularly those who purchased from a reseller). It's not ideal, but I think more vouchers (maybe with an extended validity date) is the only practical solution.aMUSEd wrote:Sorry but there needs to be an upgrade path, I have no interested in additional UVI libraries, I already deleted half of the ones I have for MachFive.

I don't think there are any UVI libraries that interest me though, as with Machfive I'm more interested in it as a tool to create my own sounds.

I'm thinking what if we get a discount from the serial for Machfive. Are we then allowed to sell MachFive engine in Marketplace? Doesn't some of the external libraries come with their own serials? I can't remember.aMUSEd wrote:I don't think there are any UVI libraries that interest me though, as with Machfive I'm more interested in it as a tool to create my own sounds.

I hear you ... I'm hoping they're going to release some new Falcon specific libraries that take advantage of the new features/modules though. I'd definitely go for these.aMUSEd wrote:I don't think there are any UVI libraries that interest me though, as with Machfive I'm more interested in it as a tool to create my own sounds.

The only library that came with it's own serial is Xtreme FX. All the others were included in the Mach Five pack, and are authorized by the same iLOK authorization. Besides, if you get an upgrade, I guess you are legally forbidden to sell, as the upgraded licenses is tied to the previous one (at least that's how I see the upgrade process).Hans25 wrote:I'm thinking what if we get a discount from the serial for Machfive. I would not sell M5 if I used it to upgrade, but another aspect of this is that Falcon has totally devalued the second hand sales price of M5 anyway so that route is out even if people don't see this as an upgrade.

crossgrades however don't typically work like that.
generally speaking it's enough to just currently own the product from which you will apply for the crossgrade. then you are offered a discounted price for a full license. doing what you like with the original product. they probably hope you sell it anyway, since generally it's a competing product.
of course, in this scenario there's an element of semantics at play ...but since they've rebranded it, sell it through their own company, and probably have no rights or access to swallow-up or dissolve machfive licenses anyway... i'd say crossgrade rules are likely to apply here.
it's all academic though, because it's not in UVI's nature to offer an actual cash-in-your-pocket solution to this issue.

Anyway, IMO, the libraries (I still like Biosphere, especially) justify to keep it, considering what you would get second hand (you would have to deduct 25,00 to the price asked to pay for the iLOK transfer fee). And let's not forget that we can use Mach Five to translate other formats (like Kontakt) into it's own, which would then be readable by Falcon.

What I don't get is why the issue about MachV 3 not being updated is not directed at MOTU rather than UVI. It is more MOTUs problem than UVI that they haven't released an update in how many years. How old is 3.2 ?

Bump. No way to access the samples in the ufs files? I find it weird that an instrument partially based on samples doesn't come with any samples to play with. I must be missing something...paterpeter wrote:Q: is there a way to load samples from UVI libraries? It's blatently obvious that UVI owned all the code in M53 except for maybe the sample conversion part. MOTU might have helped with the design, but UVI own the code.woodsdenis wrote:What I don't get is why the issue about MachV 3 not being updated is not directed at MOTU rather than UVI. So when UVI and MOTU decided to part ways for whatever reason, M53 is a dead duck. Just saying MOTU can't address code they licensed, not owned.

Depending on how the library is set up you might not be able to browse individual samples the same way you can browse presets, but you can still access/export them.paterpeter wrote:Bump. On the Edit tab of an instrument, select a keygroup for a specific part, then click the hamburger menu on the oscillator module for that sample. The Save Sample option will export the selected sample to the directory of your choice.

Some UVI libraries, like BeatBox Anthology, actually expose folders with original samples in their menu structure, and with these libraries, you can double-click the WAV or AIF files to open them in MachFive as a sample spread across the keyboard, or you can drag them to your desktop (or a supported DAW) to export them.

The WAV/AIF files of libraries that don't explicitly expose them in the Falcon browser will not show up in searches; the only way I know how to access them is by exporting them directly from the keygroups. If there is another supported way to browse the audio contents of UFS files, it would be nice to know.
