It's blatently obvious that UVI owned all the code in M53 except for maybe the sample conversion part. MOTU might have helped with the design, but UVI own the code.

So when UVI and MOTU decided to part ways for whatever reason, M53 is a dead duck. Just saying MOTU can't address code they licensed, not owned.
Wether MOTU and UVI have parted ways IDK, the fact is at this moment M5 is still for sale. If they had parted ways, and MOTU could no longer develop it, surely then they should have told their customer base that M5 was finished.

All supposition of course, I still don't get why MOTU is being painted as the damaged party in all of this.

There have been plenty of people her with strong ties to UVI who have flatly stated that UVI and MOTU are done, Falcon is effectively MachFive 4.

Only a few wild speculators have made any assumptions about why MOTU and UVI split, and then blamed MOTU, but none of us will likely ever know what dissolved that relationship? So it's in my opinion goofy to blame MOTU.

I will say this though, MOTU do not come out and say a product line is dead, (hardly anyone does) they sold PPC only Unisyn forever, and do not sell it in their store, but you can still pick up boxed copies other places, without knowing that it's not intel compatible...

Bump. No way to access the samples in the ufs files? I find it weird that an instrument partially based on samples doesn't come with any samples to play with. I must be missing something...
We only give access to the sample when it could be useful to make your own patch like Beat Box Anthology.
Not sure people are going to do something of 10000 piano samples.
In case of Falcon Library, we didn't saw that as useful, maybe a mistake of us, but you can easily just strip down the preset you like and/or use the save the sample as.

Hope this clarify things.

I wonder what the story is with Motu's BPM beat box. I wonder if UVI going to bring out a new version of that? (BPM uses UVI's engine according to Motu)

I just got Falcon. Is uvi.net the only place I can use the voucher? Will there be any new Falcon libraries in the next 2 months that are going to be $100 or less? I'm not very interested in the ones that are in the uvi.net store.

Yep the voucher is only available on uvi.net
Right now we don't have any Falcon only library planned in the 2 month (I suppose you mean sound design stuff), but this can change if there are some demands on this.

I'm sure there would be demand for material on the quality level of the factory library or above.
Most existing UVI libraries are not really that interesting for Falcon users IMO.
I hope UVI will up the ante in the future in the creative department.
Sampling another dozen of old synths is dull IMO. ;-)

And yes, I think it would be useful to expose the samples in the browser. Maybe not for the piano you mentioned, but definitely for Xtreme-FX and other libraries where some rather original sounds that would be cool to use for further mangling without hunting them down in programs first.

Tom

I didn't find any in-depth video reviews for World Traditions. Does that mean there was little interest in it?
What is the quality of the playable instruments in World Traditions?

Oh, and a question:
- If I save a program with samples, no samples are saved anywhere I can see them (subfolder of the sound-program location, right?).
- If I save a multi with samples, the samples are found as expected in a subfolder of the multi.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I was using the IRCAM Grain OSX with an external sample from my library.

And another one:
Is it true that there is no modulation/macros on the multi level or did I miss something?
I thought I could work around the non-working surround output with duplicating my program, have the two set to output 1 and 2 and then modulate their pan and volume in a way that allows me to move them through space (I'm mainly interested in the four surround speakers, so things are simple).
Right now this seems only possible through automating level and pan on the program level for both programs from the DAW, but it would be nicer to have one combined control (X/Y pads would really be nice here ;-) ) on the multi-level.
Or are there ways to do this via scripting?

Cheers,

Tom

I chose this one for my voucher. The thing I like most about it are the singing/talking voices in other languages. I might not know what they are saying, but it definitely has a vibe.
In rotation here: Helios- Eingya

World traditions do not feature fancy GUIs like other products this is why there is no shiny video for it :)
Still this is a good set of ethnic instrument with loops and playable instruments.

You can find here the list of presets

Hope this helps.

please. that UVI didn't implement comprehensive sample library import functions in Falcon is a deliberate choice, not a limitation of their coding skills (they could very easily create new code if the scenario you suggest was real). The choice being to make Falcon a 'creative hybrid instrument' as opposed to a 'multi-sampler'. ... so why would they choose to implement this obvious limitation, you should ask yourself.

the answer seems clear to me .... MachFive is a multisampler. And for whatever reason (see: legal) UVI don't want Falcon to sit in the same category as MachFive.

If you save a preset with sample from the factory library we keep references toward the factory library and do not copy factory samples.
Strange that this is not the same for multi unless those were your samples and not the factory ones. Will have to check.

You can have modulation on the multi level (usefull to modulate Part FX) but no macro knob which are meant for Program use
Still you can MIDI learn or assign automation to all parameters.
With scripting you can indeed export knob for any parameter, but this is a bit more complex.

Wow! - I'm amazed (and baffled/disappointed!) by this - I really thought you would be already lined up with add on preset packs that take advantage of the new features.

As an M53 user who already bought Falcon (and has many of your packs already), you've mentioned some form of upgrade/crossgrade 'compensation', but I'm now worried I'm just going to get another voucher that I'm really not going to be able to take advantage of :(
