PS: If people love the "Natural Phase" option of FabFilter Pro-Q2 then you can right click on the title bar of Live 9's EQ-8 and select "oversample". This does the same thing but with a shorter linear phase oversampling filter, so it has lower latency, lower cpu, and slightly lower quality, but still de-cramps both the amplitude and phase of the EQ and sounds fantastic. I don't know of any other DAWs that have such an advanced feature, and this was added for the release of Live 9, so around 1 1/2 years before Pro-Q2 was released!

Ableton should make the oversampling feature of EQ 8 (and the Glue Compressor) a UI button rather than hide it in the context menu. I know - those little effects are crowded as it is in Live's interface, but it's easy to forget that feature is there. I've gotten into the habit of "racking" everything to keep some of these defaults active.

i appriciate the hard work you and the ableton team put into what alot of other companies would charge money for.

I'll wait patiently and hopefully for a sampler update

That's right, but you can always make it default.

Although having the filters in Operator is good, it's not quite a classic subtractive workflow since there is no post filter amp, which isn't ideal when the filter is self oscillating! I've pointed this out to the Ableton guys and they are working on the best way to fix it.

You don't need to save it as a rack to make it default, just right click on the device and "save as default"

Did I mention how amazing Simpler is now ?
I loaded a DrumRack the other day, went into each instrument there and . . . holy cow ! Filter sounds freakin great, the LFO is so flexible, stretch and warp the sample

Simpler is a real instrument now !

I've personally been blown away by each 9.x. Live just keeps on getting better and better in huge strides.

The amount of improvements and new features they've delivered thus far are what others would consider whole number versions.

Was just playing with the sampler - TOTALLY WORTH IT just for the sampler alone. Great that this is a point release.

Now all I need is DRAG AND DROP clips from any track and drop it into sampler and the clips are rendered on the fly before dropping (i.e. instead of freezing the track, I ctrl+drag a clip and it renders the clip behind the scenes before dropping into sampler for chopping).

It's probably most useful if you're using Push or a launchpad to trigger clips, it's easier to navigate with colors on.
But I think I'll turn it off, it's ugly to look at in my opinion. But I've never used track colors in any DAW.

I keep it on.

If you change the color of the track before creating a new clip, the clips will follow that color. I have my own color scheme for working with different parts (Bass, Vocals, drums, etc...), but unfortunately you can't change the color of the tracks from Push.

For me auto coloring of tracks reminds to keep things organized, whereas before it would be hit and miss... meaning sometime I would color the tracks and sometimes I wouldn't, which could lead to chaotic sets if I didn't bother to clean things up. Now... I'm much better at keeping everything well organized, which is very helpful for tracks left for later.
