Which is best to use on an Audio PC?

I dont want any conflicts with my audio stuff, so i just need to use whichever is the least problematic?

I have a modem on my audio pc so yes, it is on the net..

Anyone had any trouble with either of these with audio? or is there one that i should avoid? or are they both the same in terms of programs???

I suggest you use trillian (www.trillian.cc) and use that with your AOL, MSN, Yahoo or ICQ account... I wouldnt recommend using chat when you are trying to do some serious tracking, and there are supposedly worms being designed for the chat clients, so proceed with caution.

That said, I dont notice any problems on my system.

Windows Messenger was intended to let network administrators send *intranet* wide alerts to cubefarm peons...whatever usefulness and functionality it may have originally had has been severly compromised by various internet spamming exploits. Even microsoft recommends that it be disbled through the control panel.

Use Trillian if you absolutely *must*, but keep it patched, since IM service providers have widely differing ideas about interoperability and like to break cross-service applications in the interests of 'security'. Try to use a firewall that provides IM security too...Zone Alarm appqarently does this now. Anything to hinder the script kiddies is a good thing.

I used to get IM spam all the time until I disabled Windows Messenger.

Miranda IM uses a whole lot less of your precious RAM, and doesn't mess around with your system.
