Less classy than selling a product and then disappearing?

I think when the conversation has been centring around the fact that the dev has disappeared and someone else is offering an alternative, I don't think it's too bad.
what's the alternative? missed that part somewhere.
Synthmaster 3.0 is going to have granular synthesis. But I have to be honest. It's going to take a ton to top what Tom has done with this thing. IMO, it's the best granular synth out there.

Mangle has a truly beautiful GUI and is a delight to use. i smile when I think of it. I totally forgive Tom for not logging on to this thread.

i much prefer a standalone granular synth. a granular mode or engine in a large VST environment is less appealing to me. granite and the mangle are nice siblings and being standalone instruments is what makes them so fast intuitive. i have enough synths that do all sorts.. i like the dedicated things.

i agree about the mangle being the "best". it sounds pristine. i like granite a lot too but more for edgy things.

Anyone use Granite & Mangle and how do they compare?

I have both. Won Granite in a contest. Don't like it at all. To my ears, it sounds awful.

YMMV.

Granite can sound alright with a little TLC. Great for grit. Not a huge fan of its sample rate though.
The mangle is a lot more intuitive and just sounds much smoother imho. Great for soundscapes.
At least that's all I use it for.

Obviously there's a lot more to say about both of these tools, but those catch my mind first.

I am waiting for black Friday or Cyber Monday
and hope the Mangle is discounted then.

Is the Mangle multi-touch capable?
Just got a 10-touch 23" screen!

standalone VST instrument that is all granular and not a granular engine amidst a load of other crap i don't want/need?

yeah.. i know.. reaktor, maxforlive etc.. but the great thing about Granite and the mangle is they're standalone things i can use easily w/o having to deal with reaktor's various menus and snapshots etc...

i'm all ears if you have a suggestion for 64bit OS X friendly AU/VST granular synth that isn't layered with bullshit.

I have both and tend to use The Mangle more often. I find it a bit more versatile. Granite is amazing when it comes to lush, dense soundscapes, but I find it can't really do the ugly, spiky, 'twitchy' side of granular synthesis. Everything you put in comes out sounding 'beautiful'. Granite is fantastic for getting lush, evolving soundscapes quickly, whereas The Mangle can sound like anything if you invest a bit of time in programming and automation.

I really wanted to buy Crusher X but the demo consistently crashes my DAW without even managing to get the GUI before lockup. Shame, because it looks pretty cool. I don't need it though... 8)

What did I miss?
Perhaps another video shows what Crusher X can do that is more musical?
