I fell out of music so I had a lot of catching up to do on the great freeware releases. I downloaded... hundreds... of plug-ins from the last 6 years or so and put some time into evaluating them and abusing them. I have reported my (fairwarning: opinionated) findings here, if anyone is interested:

I was under the opinion that the freeware community had sizzled out compared to its former self, and I'm so glad to be wrong.

Try my plugin SoftClipper, it's free

You can find it by searching the Effects forum for SoftClipper
