...I may be wrong about it, as I haven't installed it on the laptop I have currently with me, but if I remember correctly, Razor's reverb is also built as an additive synth. So, in case the sound's character doesn't rely so much on it, may be switching it off might reduce the CPU load considerably. Again, I'm not quite sure, if this is accurate and I don't have the opportunity to test it right now...

Yes, you are right about the reverb. I remember also that it is generated by the synth engine or something like that. But it is so good in sound design (not only the reverb but other unique effects as well) that really makes a difference. (Please don't talk more about Razor, I'm resisting to not buying it! because I remember how nice is to design sounds with it with those visual feedback (both the main screen and the modulations). I really miss thatloachm wrote:...I may be wrong about it, as I haven't installed it on the laptop I have currently with me, but if I remember correctly, Razor's reverb is also built as an additive synth. Well, I wish it has been released as independent synth (like Massive), anyway, maybe after few years with a new i7 or i9 we will start to talk how cpu efficient Razor is
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Well, since I read and remember how great Absynth is in another thread, and the GAS has changed to Absynth now a little bit
But, I think mostly I will re-buy the NI synths including Razor and Monark again and never sell them!

...honestly, NI stuff has its flaws like other products, but I find myself more and more using just the Komplete stuff and not worry about what else is around. Just a couple of days ago I watched the excellent tutorial videos from Big Brain Audio about Kontour and it got me hooked on it again. There is something very special about NI synths and the recent (totally underappreciated) Reaktor synth designs. I'm really looking forward to installing Reaktor 6 at the weekend - that'll be nice. And I really hope they'll do something for additive resynthesis sometime - Harmor is a real pain to use and, with Camel Audio out of the PC game, I'm not convinced to invest money in Izotope and/or Xfer Records and/or Waldorf...

I downloaded the demo of Razor (besides other synths from NI) and there is no escape it seems. I'm going to buy Komplete the next discount (I hope). Anyway, I need to buy Razor separately as it doesn't come with the standard Komplete.
The usage of Razor is not that bad now I tested it! I don't know if they have enhanced it or it is just my computer or maybe my brain! It is about 15~20% cpu usage in average, so it is on par with Loom! I think the last version I tested was 1.5 with Reaktor 5.9.
Ok, let me enjoy Razor and other demos now till I can buy Komplete

...maybe they'll have some discount offer on Komplete for a likely to happen Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale. Maybe you can also try to crossgrade from a Kontakt Player library. I think, you can also use the free Sennheiser Drumic'a KI for a crossgrade...

Yes thank you for reminding me. I have this free library, so let's see if that would make it any cheaper
