Read the thread again, it's been mentioned several times, audio rate mod via multi-envelope, zoom in, draw your own shapes, it's all there.Ingonator wrote:What i am indeed missing in Falcon so far is doing audio rate modulation like cross modulation (alse between different sound sources like e.g. Analog and Sample Oscs), Osc Sync (besides taht included with the Analog Oscs that does not allow much control over the Synced oscillator), a Ring modulator (maybe possible as an effect) and also Filter FM.Sampleconstruct wrote:Unfortunately the FM doesn't have an audio input, which is a missing feature, I would love to modulate FM with samples, anything really, Falcon does need audio inputs in the future (also for other things), but for 1.0 this wasn't possible.SJ_Digriz wrote:So, the FM oscillator is the primary one I've been messing with. It's pretty cool, but also basic. Being able to choose the waveform of the carrier and modulators would be nice. Also, only having 1 feedback modulator seems oddly restrictive.
But the Feature Requests are just that FRs. No criticism is intended. The FM oscillator is pretty neat when taken as a "whole" with the rest of the engine.
In regards to stacking FM Oscillators ... if there was a way to use the 2nd instance as a routable modulator on the first instance, then yes that would work. However, unless oscillator 2 can be an instance 1 modulator, it isn't providing additional operators that you can align with various carrier harmonics.
The LFO currently has a maximum Frequency of 20 Hz. Would be graet to have an option to get this up to a range suitable for audio rate modulation.

Yup, MPe looks to be picking up some acceptance... and there are more and more controllers, not only recently the Linnstrument and Seaboard RISE... but I think we can safely assume the KMI K-Board Pro would be MPE compliant (assuming it makes it to production)ThomasHelzle wrote:... and DAWs start to implement it for a while already, Tracktion has Seaboard XYZ compatibility since version 5, Cubase has it AFAIK with VST 3.5, Bitwig has a first note expression implementation that isn't fully MPE yet but on the way there and there are others as well.otristan wrote:After checking the MPE specs a bit is seems backward compatible with current MIDI so not a standalone thing only.Musical Gym wrote:Can stand-alone be linked to DAW now with virtual midi cable like loopBe30? Would do Falcon some good to implement it, more controllers supporting it come out all the time, recently the Seaboard Rise.
Cheers,
Tom
also... in a DAW concept, its MPE can also be useful for people to draw on expression, really well support in Cubase !
Can I also just add, I kind of view MPE in 2 parts/steps...
1) voice per channel .... using Pitch (X), CC 74 (Y), Channel Pressure (Z) on individual channels.
2) support the NRPNs for setting pitchbend range/switching into MPE mode
step 1, is the most important, and really makes things shine... and many soft synths do his already (e.g.u-he, ppg) ... and although the MPE spec is in draft, this voice per channel model has been in use for years in this form - I would guess the fact its been in use for some time, is why soft synth manufactures are increasingly likely to support. this mode needs no 'daw' support other than to just pass the midi onto to the plugin.
step 2, is 'new' and is perhaps a bit more volatile, and its aim is to make things easier for users, but doesn't really add functionality (e.g. you can always set the pitchbend range manually). again really most daws can just pass the midi on, but it a little depends on the functionality of the daw.
(e.g. bitwig is processing the midi and converting into it own data, so of course then has to convert it back to midi... logic/cubase just send the data through transparently)
EDIT: cubase can support with or without VST3.5 (ie. 3.5 is not a requirement )

This thread currently has a size that makes it hard to follow everything.Sampleconstruct wrote:

Anyway thanks for your hint. I just used a Multi envelope to modulate the pitch of a wavetable oscillator and this could indeed lead to some really interesting results. Also works for modulation of the Filter Cutoff.

You can use the “search this thread“-function at the upper right, enter keywords and BAM, and please don't ask why ADSR doesn't work on Layer/Program levelIngonator wrote:This thread currently has a size that makes it hard to follow everything.Sampleconstruct wrote:

Absolutely innovative sounds, did you use impulse responses from prime sonic space?PatchAdamz wrote:Thanks!Sparky77 wrote:Just pick up these presets.PatchAdamz wrote:Here is an example more in the direction of Electronic and Ambient.

Several jaw dropping patches.
Love it!

This one was inspired by the Philip Glass and Brazilian instrumental group Uakti recording Aguas da Amazonia.
Falcon proved to be an excellent tool for designing sounds "outside the box".
Also, being able to import custom Impulse Responses brings a whole new pallet to the table.

hmm ... I found search in the program browser, but not the main sidebar browser. Is that on purpose? I'd really like it in the sidebar.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Is that possible to create a bank of 128 presets and change between them using standard Program Change?

Granular glass gongs combined with a pluck synth also using a glass gong tremolo to excite the resonators. Automating the 13 Macros on the fly.

Is it just me or is the Falcon User Manual difficult to read?
Landscape pages are good (I do wish more devs would do that, as most screens are landscape-oriented) but there are vast spreads of empty grey space and small text. I have to make it full screen to read it - and then of course I cannot see the software GUI.
Make the text bigger, and let it flow onto a continuation page if needed.

The synthesis options in Falcon are alraedy crazy enough but adding audio rate modulation by the Multi envelope (e.g. for Osc Pitch or Cutoff modulation) makes it even more crazy...Sampleconstruct wrote:You can use the “search this thread“-function at the upper right, enter keywords and BAM, and please don't ask why ADSR doesn't work on Layer/Program levelIngonator wrote:This thread currently has a size that makes it hard to follow everything.Sampleconstruct wrote:

I have been working with Impulse Responses for many years.
These are from a collection of experimental Impulses I have been working on recently.
Here is an example of creating an Ambient sound-scape using various layers of playable harmonics.
Multiple controllers allow for live manipulation of the sound while the space was created using multiple high end studio effects not included with Falcon.
These effects are imported by way of custom Impulse Responses for a completely unique set of effects and verb.
