Could please you set up a mailinglist? So much easier to get news delivered straight to ones inbox than having to check hundreds of websites and forums for updates to ones favorite stuff.

Many thanks!

You should actually be able to subscribe to this thread. I do get emails whenever there is a new post in this thread.

Exactly. At the foot of the page, to the left, is a little checkbox: Subscribe to this topic. You get an email alert the second a new post appears. Simple, efficient, convenient!

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

But.........

News is different than posts......out of the 133 pages of this thread there might be ten pages of posts that could be considered actual news. The rest are like yours and mine...... of which now everybody subscribed will get an e-mail notice.

Anyway every time I see this thread bumped I think there is a "new beta uploaded"....... :hyper:

Well now. Martin is creating this great instrument in his spare time and he provides it for free.

Now you're demanding that he spends yet more of his available time to build a mailing database and compose newsletters? How much do you want for nothing?

Come on, man, be reasonable!

Come on, man, be reasonable! I didn't "demand" anything. It wasn't me who asked for the newsletter I was simply pointing out how your "solution" is not "Simple, efficient, convenient!" unless you like getting a notice every time someone posts some non news like our last two posts.

I'm happy to simply check this thread every time it's bumped even though there is not often a "new beta uploaded" (the thread title can be edited)........

I'm very grateful for what Martin has given us........you need to drop the drama queen attitude down a notch or two......

I'm with you. Always think the same: "Oh, an update!" ... "Oh, no, just a post."

To keep things separated, the plugin could be registered at KVR. Martin updates the plugin and then just edits the KVR version number and everybody who "owns" it, gets an "Updated Version" email.

To keep Martin's free time as free as possible for development, a KVR-user might supporthim with this task. I would do it.

bookmark his facebook page, he always posts updates there... no need to look here or elsewhere.

And as long as he doesn't "buy" FB-posts to push them I probably won't see them amongst all the news I get. And maybe I only follow friends on Facebook.

Facebook is definitely not the right place to keep your "customers" posted about new software versions. KVR is much better to track versioning. Facebook is nice to share nesws. Two different beasts, although they overlap.

That should be the way to go!

PS. I personally don't have a problem to check this topic everytime it bump it's not like it bump every hour. :)

Can anybody point me to an easy-to-use free mailing list (run on an external server), which I could use? I have no problems posting news to a mailing list, I just don't have the time to search for the best solution and maintain a mailing list myself.

If there are sites (e.g.wordpress, google-sites, etc.) where people ca sign up, that could be a way.

Cheers,
Martin

P.S. if people think they might have missed announcements in the past, it is simply because there have not been a lot. The last couple of month have been (and still are) extremely busy in my real-life job, leaving me very little time to work on the plugin.

Last weekend, I started fixing some of the issues. But there are some more issues I need to sort out before the next (and possibly final) beta.

Can't people here just subscribe to KVR? Everytime new news is released, it will auto email you.

That would require that the plugin is registered at KVR. Then the developer (or someone else) can update the version number and every KVR-user that registered this plugin within his MyKVR will get an email. Not all developer do that. I don't know the reason. For me it's very convenient and I love that functionality. Nevertheless, as a developer, I'd keep my customers posted via email as a first priority, then KVR, probably.

Or bookmark the "All my posts" link 4 links below the "Search" link.
This way every time this thread gets a new post, it will be on or near the top of the "All my posts" list if you ever posted in it.
