Miroslav Philharmonik 2

Post

I'm one of those guys that liked the new Sampletank 3 instruments so much that I never went back to any of my favorites in the included Sampletank 2 library.

So I'm optimistic that the new material will take advantage of all the new advances in similar ways.

That said, the first Miro used the mono samples of the original Miroslav sample set from 20 (?) years ago. Is the new content previously unused material from that sampleset, or did Miroslav actually record all new material for this project?

$199 for an upgrade might sound a bit steep, but gearpoints and jampoints could discount that even further.

Cheers
-B

[edit: I see my exact question was asked in the post above. Sorry for the duplicate.]

Yes I think you guys are being hard on IKM. That being said, I would love to hear comparisons as well. And better demos.

I listened to the demos. But, for example, the solo violin. One articulation all the way through? Show me what the SOLO VIOLIN SOUNDS LIKE! 45 seconds of spiccato doesn't tell me how the voice plays out and are we any closer to sounding like a real solo violin.

I do appreciate the solo parts and wonder if there is anything to be gained as I am well covered in my ensembles.

I'm pretty sure that jampoints are not possible during presale.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I'm pretty sure you will be right murnau.

You mean something like samples from sessions for Miroslav Vitous String Ensembles? That's an interesting point.

Regardless, if the sound is good and the patches are usable, I wouldn't care whether it is old or new.

They are usable for preorder, and longtime Miroslav users are given 50 bonus JamPoints to use toward this (or other IK products) as an extra loyalty bonus.

Does Miroslav Classic Edition work for getting the $199 upgrade, or is that a crossgrade item?

And, agreement that everyone's being damn harsh. IK's a good company with good products, and Peter comes here to tell us the news. Dunno how much he has to do with pricing or policy, but I suspect not all that much. Ergo, he doesn't need the grief. If you wouldn't say it to him in person, try not to say it to him here.

I tried today, and neither did I get the 50 bonus jampoints nor was I able to deduct any amount. So, something is wrong in the process.

Nowdays with all the social media etc. a few videos about the recording sessions and detailed background info's are essential.
Resurrected? He's alive so that might be painful for him! He was directly involved (he was the producer & originator behind the whole thing), these are new sessions and quotes of his that we posted like “…Thank the spirit of music for making this possible. This one plays music like magic. It was made for the music, not for the money and not for the hype.” and “Modern music was not possible so far (in my opinion) to do realistically with samples. I think now for the first time as I’ve tried it, it works sensational with this library.” are great to hear of course :)

What constitutes a "longtime Mirsolav user"? I first registered Miroslav in 2011 - would that qualify? If so, when will these JamPoints be put in the account?

Thanks!

I'll check on the JamPoints redemption issue to see if it is global. For the 50 bonus JamPoints you must have registered Miroslav Philharmonik before 2010. Please PM your IK username and registered email and I'll check for you.

how about automatic legato (via scripting) and glissandos? I could not find any info about that on the webpage ...

I used jampoints in the presale for Amplitube 4.

Edi: ah I see it has been addressed already. I don't need the library so maybe I don't have the same perspective, but I'll also say I think people are being a bit hard on IK. Whether or not this is valuable to you is one thing, but they committed no crime with this release ;) Maybe we can go a bit easier on them.

One thing that crossed my mind though is that this is essentially a ST3 content pack with a special skin, right? How about making special skins available throughout ST3, allow new content packs to set a new default themes for themselves. Allow users to make their own themes. Personally I hate the red trim throughout ST3, it is a small thing but it distracts my eyes and just I would rather not see it, I appreciated in ST2 being able to change the color at least, that would be nice to have back, just for the red bits.

Does Miri 2 allow you to load its samples directly in ST3 like the old version did for ST2?

+1

Unfortunately, those people don't appreciate the possibility to discuss a new product and its features with an employee of the manufacturer, even weeks before the official launch. They tend to forget that there are lots of other companies who couldn't care less about users' opinions.
SirKen wrote: That being said, I would love to have some more information. Can we hear a V1 vs V2 comparison for similar patches? Also, are the new samples recorded wet like the older ones?
:tu: A comparison would be a really good thing.
SirKen wrote: Would it be possible to see a walkthrough of individual patches on Youtube? (Soundcloud compression is atrocious.)
+1, once again
