Watched the long awaited 1973 film from the Roxy club today.
One of 3 shows from Roxy. Was amazing. Mostly from the "Roxy and Elsewhere" album show it seemed.

Sez on screen when trying to play "This video contains content from Eagle Rock. It is not available in your country." Strange one.

Thank you for sharing, the album is great. Saw the trailer, where is the film available?

In Scandinavia, there is CDON:

Probably a good investment this, not just the content, but I expect this will fetch a bit of money second hand when it goes out of print, especially the issues which include a CD.

Good price (both) - btw, when buying DVD Amazon, better to give a special check to the region code, I have bought once the US region DVDs.
Although have one 0-code player, too, my blue ray is just for reg. 2.

I found on youtube probably the best documentary of any of them on Zappa, caught about half of it (pretty lengthy), kept the tab open and returned to it the next day only to find that 'Eagle Rock content unavailable in your country' error.

I take this to mean that their right to this content is questionable. I have one video that is not available in the UK because somehow my fair use is respected by Warners here but not everywhere. :? The Eagle Rock channel on youtube has, for instance, the film "All or Nothing at All" about Frank Sinatra, and I know this entity is quite secondary to that work.

This is more or less the same Zappa band that played in Helsinki right? (whipping post/towel incident)

- more or less, 1974 Europe tour doesn't have Ralph Humphrey on drums or Bruce Fowler on trombone, who are there in the studio. And of course the singers. That studio version never made it to a record for whatever reason. Roxy and Elsewhere additionally has Jeff Simmons, Walt Fowler and more vocalists.

FZ hated not being able to whip out Whipping Post on the spot. In 1981 he got Bobby Martin in the band who had some experience with it. I'm glad you mentioned it because it led me to this:

Concerning the above Roxy bit: I don`t remember any but Frank on the mic being in the final cut.
Remember him talking about the cone monster and pulling his hair back from his face for the shot, but nothing else seems familiar. I`ll have to call my friend for another viewing.

I didn`t see Jeff Simmons or Walt Fowler in it either.

There is no final cut of that studio recording except that. The extant releases were Roxy and Elsewhere and YDTOSA vol 2. And Roxy by Proxy, which is the same live nights as the original Roxy. The female backing vox are not in the live, no.
