I wasn't totally happy until the Streetly's. But now woohoo. I'm not sure you can get much closer than that. Echo the desire for the extended range somehow, but that's just being spoiled :P I have a few other Tron options in Halion and Kontakt, but I tend to use the MTron + Streetly for actual Tronishness.

The description at KVR says it is an emulation, but it is sample based, right?

yes it is. But, it does have some extra widgets in the form of envelopes and effects. But the sounds sources are samples.

It's built around Gigasampler I think.

There are various banks which are taken from different machines - the recorded each note - on some banks there are duff or slightly different sounding notes.

Don't I wish I had some dosh to spare.

I'm one of those who thinks M-Tron Pro is the way to go. The original M-Tron was one of my first VST purchases, and around Christmas I upgraded to the latest version of MTP. Money well spent. I don't think GForce has made a plug-in that I didn't like.

Better get the money ready before Feb 16th, because by then the intro half price offer ends

Rats. Not gonna happen, too many medical bills yet. Oh well, something to look forward to in the future.

Would be nice if they offered a Bundle.

I think Valhalla Plate will have to wait another month. Looking forward to getting this in a few days. I think I now have all the expansions apart from the Optigan one.

It's unfortunate they can't get the samples to run in sync for a proper Optigan emulation because that would just make M-Tron perfect IMO. The thing with the Optigan is that pressing a key didn't cause one of the rhythms to start at the beginning. Instead, the rhythms were all in sync with each other, so if you decided to change from a C to D two-thirds of the way into a measure, the D would start two-thirds of the way into said measure. I saw a real one on Craigslist a few weeks back and almost bought the damn thing.

That would require a software update, have you written to them about it yet?

I emailed them about it years ago and they were aware of that aspect of the original Optigan functionality but had no plans to build it into M-Tron. I hope some day they'll revisit it.

Post

I didn't know that. I didn't get the Optigan one simply because it's not really my thing.

Sweetwater has licenses for $150, about 10% less than on G-Force's site (and with no currency conversion fee to boot). Any caveats to buying through a third-party site?
