well, since i am at home sick and with nothing better to do, i might as well do sotrimph1 wrote:That was the thing I should have referred to. Sorry for the mix up.
And, yes, please post your issues with them
for Amplitube, the following things annoy me:
1) limitations of supposedly "free" signal routing
2) no off-axis mic position
3) Amplitube generally being a horrible frankenstein of great stuff and old crap - it really needs streamlining
4) MIDI assignment is awkward
5) lack of integration with T-Racks
6) inability to hide the non-purchased gear and presets utilizing non-purchased gear
7) JMP1 controls are modeled after the real unit - meaning, it's very hard to use
for T-Racks:
1) lack of sidechaining and mix knobs in the majority of the modules
2) added gain in default position in some modules (for example, the Neve EQ's add gain when you engage the mic section)
3) lack of drag'n'drop in T-Racks shell
4) identity disorder - is it for mixing? mastering? why the tape echo? why no other FX?
5) choice of modules is too predictable - how much SSL, Neves and APIs can one have?!
6) each update installing non-purchased modules
for SampleTank:
1) lack of custom macro assignment
2) still very slow sound loading
3) lack of in-depth Kontakt-esque scripting (for example, Miroslav may sound great when it comes to timbre, but won't ever beat legato-sampled Kontakt libraries for realism of performances)
4) crap voice samples
5) sometimes spotty sample coverage - some articulations sound timbrally different (or have e.g. different stereo placement) from other articulations, which means i can't use them in the same sequence
thats off the top of my head.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

I have yet to go anywhere near those voice samples.
It really needs the legato...makes me wonder what they were thinking.
Actually... now that I think of it how long does it take to load ST3. On mine it seems like a lot of time... something like 5 minutes?

I had a few jam points at one time, but when I went to redeem them they vanished. I don't really care, it looks complicated and I don't want to take on any worries behind it. But I purchased every single bit of Amplitube 2 and have seen zero benefits from the volume of that.
the Custom Shop business kills it for me. I like their software. But I don't like having to stay apprised of complicated shit like this. When I first installed it, unwittingly (for whatever reason, you could say I'm an idiot & I won't disagree) it created havoc for me. And for installing Amplitube 3, I had to restore everything via CS, which meant I had to look it up on their website which I hate as well. I'm done, I need a smoother experience if I'm paying money. I don't know if the next time something is updated I don't have to 'restore', I'm too stupid to use IKMM then.

The worst thing I think was when I updated T-Racks to use them as 64-bit, they'd changed the internal identifier so in VE Pro all instances opened as init with this error message. That's just stupid. I mention it here and one of their people says 'they're doing it wrong'. They being VSL, whom IK had zero contact with, and I don't think they ever even heard of VE Pro before I took out a support ticket. Too many things. Don't like 'em.

In a perfect world IKM were already bought up by Apple.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

IBTL?
IK has both pissed me off and made my day. All in all they are fine. Really wish I was still VST to try AT4 as it sounds tasty. Sample tank? Meh, glad I passed on it.
One other thing, I was "sensitive" all the "i" stuff way back when because was worried that the industry was moving away from what I love best. Turns out that was mostly a fad (and mad cash for visionary companies) and there is still a place for us farts that want bigger screens, mouses and "real" computers
Was probably a bit off the mark in those days. But I took my lumps so it all comes out in the wash.
