Aaahhh... sort of a beginners class instrument then4damind wrote:There is a lot of content.. but only judging because of the audio demos, it sounds a bit cheap. Not so many details and too static (is Miroslav using Round Robin)?
IMO it's more for people with a small budget and where the sound is not so important.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, at least you listened but the site does state that it is using round robin so if you do decide to seek more information for any reason you can find it at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/philharmonik2/4damind wrote:There is a lot of content.. but only judging because of the audio demos, it sounds a bit cheap. To each his/her own but I don't think this sounds "cheap" at all

As far as "beginners" go, I'm sure a beginner can certainly produce something nice and more advanced users can produce something beautiful with Miroslav Philharmonik. It will certainly be a powerful tool in some hands, as expected.

Peter, please get your colleagues to produce some more demos showing the flexibility, scope and quality of MP2. It does not come across to me in the current ones.
Or, and this is just an idea, perhaps some MP1 pros could send you a couple of MIDI idles to run through MP2 for some more demos.

....and if IKM filled the details of ST as being an actual sampler it would have been registered as such in the database (or even as a pizza if they [IKM] wanted to). Bu that doesn't mean it is a sampler.

Of course, some people will find a usage for MP2. But it will not raise the bar in this department and compared to other sample libs (EW, VSL,...) it doesn't sound very good and not very natural. IMO it's because of limited articulations or/and not so many recorded Round Robin samples for each note.
For not so important sounds it could be useful but not for movie scoring, classic or other productions.
I would not use it and no recommendation.

I think it would be good to wait for it to be released before driving nails in its coffin. Me personally, I'll be waiting for this to be sold for $50 in a group buy someday.

I would have been more interested if there were midi files included, or some construction kits, something like that. I'm a budding animator and the ability to generate some nice suspenseful string sections quickly would have been cool.
What would be really cool is if IK would have done this in conjunction with the Cinematic Percussion and maybe a brass section library, and really create an integrated toolkit that would help people making quick scores for commercials and whatnot that don't care so much about originality, familiarity even is what you might be after in those cases. That is how I see the electronic ST3 libraries if I ever get them. I'm, not gonna make techno on my own, and the libraries might not be useful to someone that does, but being able to fake it for a short segment in a film would be nice.

It's his job and i know he's smart enough not to take criticism on IKM personal. So no need to feel sorry i would say: Most people here know that he's a tough one but anyway.. ..i strongly believe that most people here wouldn't tolerate if he would be insulted or something. Still he's doing a damn fine job and most people here even if they wouldn't say it paying tribute to him (i certainly do).bronxsound wrote:i must say i feel really sorry for Peter that for some reason he is to promote and give "face" to ikm products on kvr.
Ps. I only hope that most people aren't bugged because i wrote a few times "most people" above..

And this isn't the "Sampler" forum. So we seem to be square then, no?sfd wrote:....and if IKM filled the details of ST as being an actual sampler it would have been registered as such in the database (or even as a pizza if they [IKM] wanted to). Bu that doesn't mean it is a sampler.
By the way, Ben & Co. most certainly do edit the product listings, news, etc in the database when there are errors so we don't have some free reign as you may be imagining is the case.

I have to admit I interpreted the statement you quoted as "I feel sorry that he has to promote and put a face on products that I don't care for" which is fair enough. In that context I'd feel sorry for me too.murnau wrote:It's his job and i know he's smart enough not to take criticism on IKM personal. And at least you didn't say "you people" - that would probably have been offensive. I don't know if it is "most people" though, there's a lot of users here, a smaller subset that post/read threads, an even smaller subset that care about what they post/read, an even smaller subset that even cares about IK products/policies/threads. But I care about the products and I like it here enough to have made some friends along the way (or who I already knew - but that seems to happen more at that other more slutty place) and I can certainly see the different perspectives and sometimes even get it right about context. Though I'm not sure I got the context correct above, I can still see the point made and I guess it is just like some songs - how you interpret them is probably more impactful overall, since I did not view it as negative at all I guess that's a win in some way.
Too philosophical, though, and quite wordy. I'm looking into a few things (like more demos - yes, I've been told they're coming, MIDI patterns, other suggestions/comments/questions) so hopefully the information will continue to flow. Even if I'm also putting a "face" on yet another late-year release currently too. I'd say "feel more sorry for the workload" but I'm quite sure I'm not the busiest person here by a long shot.

i am sorry for Peter personally. and you are right, he is doing his job and this here seems to be a shitty one.murnau wrote:It's his job and i know he's smart enough not to take criticism on IKM personal. and you are right again he must be a tough one as i would not work for any money to cover idiotic decisions of management and face "never happy" customers.
let's face it, the product (MP2) seems to have questionable value for money ratio in comparison to the competitors. so if someone is after a "pro" library/instrument feel free go and buy it. if MP2 floats your boat acknowledging potential issues with ikm feel free to take a risk and buy it.
in a way i have an impression that some people in this thread are expecting Peter to go back to his bosses and say: "KVR crowd does not like our new product. It is shite actually. Shall we run 5 for 1 group buy to please them?"
