Placing swap file on a non-system partition?

Do I get anything from doing this? I have c: partition with WinXP and d: with audio software, both are FAT32...I read somewhere than it can free some resources but it doesn't say what or why...

It can only free up your harddrive as far as I know...

If you make your swap size a fixed size you do get some benefits, ie you dont get continuois fragmentation on the partition its on.
I personally prefer a separate partition for swapspace. Old UNIX habit, I guess.
