NEED A GAMING/AUDIO RECORDING PC ON A $1000 BUDGET. AN ACTIVE GAMER AND ACCOMPLISHED ELECTRIC GUITAR PLAYER THAT WILL BE USING PRO AUDIO RECORDING EQUIPMENT AFTER CHRISTMAS BUT ALSO NEEDS A GOOD GAMING PC THAT CAN ALSO HANDLE PROFESSIONAL AUDIO RECORDING. ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS

Well, any i5/i7 quad with at least 4 gig's of RAM with pro audio interface will do it, throw SSD too... I don't play games, so I don't know much about it, but I suspect it's higher demand than for audio, especially graphic card, but as far as audio goes, that's about it.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

Maybe an i5 4690 or i5 4570
H97 mobo
8Gb DDR3 1600 RAM
R7 260 graphics or an R9 series - at least 2Gb
mid case around US$75
250Gb SSD
2Tb data drive
Should be around the $1K. May have to go for a 4570, a 1Tb data drive, more generic case etc. But you can't skimp on the CPU, RAM or graphics card.

I got mine for less than 800$:
i5, 8 gig of RAM, 1T SSHD and GTX 760 packed in. Enough for both great audio recording and gaming (Fallout 4 in high settings and 60fps here)

Pick up a used i7 3930K system with 8 gigs of ram. That hexicore processor is still near the top of the heap.

Hey, that's good to know. I have a similar Computer, maybe a little faster, and was wondering if it can run Fallout 4 well.edgenet wrote:I got mine for less than 800$:

I just made a mini itx build as this:
i7 4790k $299
Nvdia Gtx 960 $189
Gigabyte z97n-wifi mobo $119
Evga supernova g2 550w PSU $89
Corsair obsidian 250d $84
Total $784 USD
You have 216 left for RAM and SSD as you see fit, and I picked good components.
Get an i7, they are great for music production.

I picked up a used Thinkcentre m92p i7 for around $300.00. I added 16GB of memory for another $100.00. I added a 2TB 7200rpm HD for another $100.00. I then added a TI chipset firewire PCI-E card for about $50.00.
I am not gaming on this system so my GPU is only an AMD 7750 which is more than enough for my pro audio/video needs and cost me less than $75.00.
But my system came in at around $600.00 so with a budget of $1000.00, you have plenty of room for a kick ass video card, maxing out the memory to 32GB, and possibly getting a firewire audio interface depending upon how powerful of a gaming GPU you are desiring to buy.
