http://ukf.com/words/an-interview-with- ... ucer/14404It doesn’t go anywhere! This is my argument! People have always had ghostwriters or producers. Big singers or bands don’t always sing their own songs. Big EDM acts are more honest about it now than ever. You see so much outrage and fury in the underground scene but they’re furious at a genre or part of the industry that is miles away from their own; Justin Bieber, Cher, Britney Spears – none of them write their own songs, none of them produce, none of them engineer, many of them lip-sync when you see them live. That’s the absolute truth of the industry and has been for years. It’s just that various forms of music scenes that used to be strictly underground are now in the commercial market and it’s causing an outrage that certain techniques used by the larger side of pop music are now being applied in certain areas of electronic music.

Nice article, thanks for sharing.
I started of with ghost production too, but had bad experience that made me realize I'm just not a guy for it, guess I needed lawyer straight away and different personality overall, but still I like to work with nice and talented people on music, without having money and contracts involved, just for joy of creative magical moments.
But overall, I think too that's the nice way for people to make money without being circus clowns and judged by public, I neither wanted to be famous at any point, just to make a living being in studio all the time

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

It's kind of funny just how deep the rabbit hole goes, what with things like ghost mixers. Ultimately it's a question about brand recognition. People are moreso interested in paying for the name rather than the person behind it. At the far end of the spectrum, Hans Zimmer is more of an enterprise than the name of an individual. If you're in such a high demand that you can't be arsed taking every request personally, then why not start outsourcing and take a cut from someone else leveraging your name (ie brand) for work?

Exactly, artists are now brands and like any brand, there's a chain of people working for them. But that's just for EDM and pop music, the ghost writer in the article mentioned that it's less frequent in the drum & bass and dubstep genres where the production has to be top notch. So globally, I don't think ghost writing is that much of a "problem" in electronic music.GeckoYamori wrote:People are moreso interested in paying for the name rather than the person behind it. There are DJ's also that invest in their image of artists/producers, gain more recognition with their music which boosts their rate/income.
Not many can ghost write for big guys, but DJ crowd is where is at for everyone interested in this, there's plenty of folks who don't care about anything else than to play music live and make more money, they even pay for the appearance in songs and etc.
So electronic music is affected, of course, more commercial genres that actually bring crowd and money, but nothing is excluded entirely, there's plenty of DJ's who have money, but no time or knowledge to pull out a track.
People who get pissed also about this are ones that are trying to make it in that circles doing everything by themselves, spend time, ones that actually buy stuff they use and actually don't want to be just pale shadows/copycats, folks with integrity, not plenty of that kind, but they are vocal about it, opposed to your usual "making it big" guy that does everything by all means and than get caught in interview with old habits.
