I had a great idea last night - replace all solid food-stuffs with the local vodka!

Now I'm hungover - by which rather spurious link I was reminded that I wanted to post this today:

Why did it remind me of this song - well, it starts off lovely.
Impending - but lovely, soft and lullabyish - just the thing to lull you into a false sense of security... then after 2:30mintues it utterly self-destructs.
Absolutely the last thing need with a hangover.

There's some messy vocal edits in there that I haven't had chance to sort yet - but otherwise it's ok.
Big on synths and digital mayhem in the second part (and uses my favourite ever patch - the hugely distorted and utterly gigantic woo-aaa-wwoow-aaa-hh-gzzgz-aaa thing that forms the bassline of the first part [filtered] and the dirt of the second [unfiltered]).
Beats still need a little work in the 2nd bit too (don't really know what I was thinking there?!) - teeny bit stilted methinks.

But please lemme know what you think - do parts 1 and 2 ...erm... work?!

Nice!

Good:
The two parts work well together. Slick editing. Nice contour (explosion halfway through, then dies down a bit). Lovely sounds. Singer has a lovely voice! Great mix, etc.

Bad:
Vocal sounds like scratch takes - not dynamic/expressive enough to suit the instrumental tracks. First few minutes are a little too slowly-paced for my liking, it's like it can't decide if it wants to be really laid-back, or more energetic... though maybe the tension is intentional. Some sloppy vocal editing... but you knew that.

Overall, great track! This one's a keeper.

I just cannot help but think of Jens' girl Bina when I hear this singer.

This is a pretty darn good and strong track allready with some amazing sounds happening either on the front or in the background. That change was a nice surprise indeed. Dynamically it made a huge jump; perhaps it could have been a tad more graduate as it seems rather drastic. The vocal stays in the same level and gets a bit drowned.

All in all my thoughts are that the change is cool, but for the strength of this song, I somehow feel like Jeez that keeping it in the lazy atmosphere with more subtle crossovers to the second part would make for a more smooth track.

But thats just my thoughts, nothing to pinpoint on really...

it's like it can't decide if it wants to be really laid-back, or more energetic...

I think that's what caused me to rough-it-up in the first place- it is a bit 'tense'- but I think that gives some justification to the second part going mad - then again, it could be smoother. And yeh- the vocal does need some work; mainly because of my editing, but also because it was all recorded to an earlier version of the song (that was entirely like the 1st half of this one). Thanks Jeez.

Vocal drowning is entirely a result of the aforementioned recording-it-to-a-different-version syndrome; so it'll probably have to be done again or reinforced. It's a pain, but you're right Mystahr.
Think I will look into changing the transition a little (maybe hint at it earlier on), and perhaps smooth out the first section.

(took me ages to find that icon) Ta very muchly Wopelka- will pass onc comments oto the voclaist (she's actually reasonably new to singing altohugh I have to agree- she has a fantastic voice).
Will endeavoe to work on it tomorrow- one problem I have however is that I can't use ftp from here- if anyone knows of a way to get temp hosting space please let me know coz I've got a stack to put up now (and one absolute stormer!!).

nice track - really love the melody, and the two halves do work well together.

for the vox on the second half - try double tracking what you have, and run one distorted and EQ'd high, give it sort of a shouted/harsh feel - maybe play with the stereo placement a bit. It may do interesting things that could help move the vocal along with the explosiveness.

otherwise - she has a great, very sweet voice! I like it alot
