Well?
I just got some extra cash and my SBLive sucks, even with the nice kx project drivers. I want a nice 24/96 card with MIDI, so which of the above? I know the audiophile has been around a long tme and is often used as a benchmark against which other cards are judged, but I like the fact that the Mia has nice chunky 1/4" jacks rather than the Audiophile's RCA or the (puke!) 1/8" stereo I/O that the SBLive offers.
I'm not recording string quartets or virtuoso vocalists... mostly noise, circuit bent sounds, feedback loops made with guitar pedals and the odd thing or two from my Zoom sampler so really it is down to which one is going to give me the lowest latency/best stability in a Windows XP environment running Tracktion and Cool Edit Pro.

love my mia, works great. sounds great. nice mixer app w/ the drivers..

I chose the Mia over the Audiophile, for the following reasons:
1) Balanced I/O - less common than RCA but nicer for plugging into mixers and monitors (I use a little Behringer mixer with it).
2) 8 virtual outputs - this has proven to be useful.
3) Really good drivers (Audiophile is pretty solid by now though).
4) Some reviews claimed that the A/D conversion on the Mia was slightly better.
From what I could tell, you can't really go wrong with either card though.

The E-Mu 0404 looks promising, however the cables have that thin, cheap "i'm gonna break at the strain relief and start crackling after about 3 months" look to them when compared with the heavy gauge ones on the M-Audio 2496.
Also, E-Mu = Creative which probably means bloated, buggy drivers that never get updated or even bugfixed, not to mention useless tech support. In fact, I've already read a review that mentioned a problem with ASIO output cutting out periodically, requiring one to perform some sort of manual operation to correct the problem. Not cool...
I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I think the Emu 0404 is going to be the best card under £140 that is available - the Audiophile 2496 is going to have a hard time selling for the same amount - seeing as there's virtually nothing on its circuit board... People will start to see that they've been spending a fortune on a card that is suddenly being sold for £70 - do you think it costs more than £5 to make? At least the Emu 0404 has a built in DSP which you can use for VST effects - how amazing is that?
I'm going to buy one online this weekend, it looks too amazing to miss!
