This will be possible in 1.0.3thetechnobear wrote: a) Ive notice in the MPE script, it can set a part to be OMNI for a port, could we have this in the standalone UI too? (i.e. B Omni)
Falcon removes them but if you don't open the dialog then the new configuration is not saved and it should work the next time you open Falcon and they are plugged in.thetechnobear wrote: b) It seems like if you have midi devices setup in your preferences that are not present when you start falcon, then falcon removes them.
please could you just leave them beI have a number of controllers, but they are not all turned on/available, all of the time.... (some of them are using virtual midi ports), and currently I have to go to the preferences each time I start Falcon to add them.
Thanks
Mark
Falcon only overwrite the MIDI configuration when you open its preference panel

@wagtunes
Can you send me a preset with samples that reproduce your issue ?
Does the crash happens when you are actually changing the xfade while playing or just playing ?
Thanks,

ah.... I probably was adding an extra controller... but didnt have all the others turned on, so I guess I need to turn them all on at once, set it up and then never go there againotristan wrote:Falcon removes them but if you don't open the dialog then the new configuration is not saved and it should work the next time you open Falcon and they are plugged in.thetechnobear wrote: b) It seems like if you have midi devices setup in your preferences that are not present when you start falcon, then falcon removes them.

the 'small' issue with this behaviour, is sometimes Ive gone to the page, as I don't remember which controller is on which port A/B/C/D... I guess if I set it up a little more logically/write it down then I'll be ok.

After going through the steps that I outlined above, I started playing and after maybe 10 or 15 seconds it just froze up.otristan wrote:@wagtunes

I'll recreate the preset and put it on dropbox for you to download. But I'm not going to play it this time. Just create it. I'm hoping this isn't just a DAW related issue. I may try doing this in MuLab instead of Cubase and see what happens.
Will be posting shortly.

Here is the link for the samplecrash preset if anybody wants to download it.

I'm going to try playing this in MuLab to see if it crashes there too. If this really has been fixed, I fear this is more a Cubase issue in which case I'll have to do development in another DAW. But we'll see.

Well, I just tried playing it in MuLab and it literally shut down the whole program. So it is definitely a bug somewhere.

If you want to make a resonator, that's basically what comb filters are good for. Comb filters are basically just small delays, which is what makes something resonate in an acoustic instrument.Gribs wrote: I am thinking something like Chromaphone, which has other resonator models that AFAIK are more complex than simple 1D strings or two coupled 1D strings. I am thinking about getting Chromaphone during the current sale even though the GUI, and in particular some of the fonts, is sort of tiny on my HD monitor.
While we're on the subject of comb filters, does anyone know how to get Falcon to do a comb filter without any feedback?
From the comb filters that I'm used to dealing with (such as the ones in Thor), when I put a comb filter on, I can immediately hear the small delay happening without applying any resonance (feedback) at all. But the comb filters on Falcon seem to work in a different way: if you put a comb filter on there is no immediate effect on the audio at all, until you turn up the resonance. It seems that the resonance knob in falcon not only controls the feedback, but also controls the wet/dry balance too?
I'd like to apply a comb filter without any feedback. Does anyone know if there is a way to do that in Falcon?
I wish that either the comb filter wet/dry mix was constant (at 50/50 like it is in other synths), or that there was an additional knob to control the wet dry mix.
Thanks!

The UI allows you to have an xfade length superior to the portion available after the loop end
while it shouldn't let you do that.

Alternate xfaded looping is tricky because there are many ways to do it.
If it wasn't already implemented I would even remove it because technically you already smooth the transition by having it loop on itself.(as long as you xfade on a zero crossing)

So what's the solution? Should I just not use it?otristan wrote:Alternate xfaded looping is tricky because there are many ways to do it.
