I'm going to buy a Variax and an amp modeller next month!
The amp modeller will only be used for direct recording. After listening to mp3's and reading manuals I've narrowed my choice to Boss GS-10, Adrenalinn II, PodXT.
I will play all of them in the store, but obviously I can't judge how they will sound in a full mix. Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences with one of these? I'm not looking for authenticity of the models but for playability and good sound.
Thanks,
Peter.

If you've got the cash i'd go for the Podxt. i've got a Pod2, and although i am happy with it i always felt it could do more. Well Podxt does that. Whereas Pod2 is pretty much just emulations of amps and cabs, Podxt has loads of effects modelled too, and the firmware can be updated via USB (unlike my Pod2
). In fact Line 6 have just updated Podxt to Version2 and you can even get 74 more models if you don't think there's enough on board. Also all Pod models have just had a price cut. i'm going to get a Podxt Pro for my rack (slightly more convenient than the kidney bean for me).
The Roland's are OK but even my Pod2 is better than their COSM thing.
Can't comment on the Roger Linn thing, but i would assume it's more basic in terms of available models, but has some groovey ptactice feature i believe.

I am waiting for some Variax audio takes,
for my VST amp modeler.
I am very courius for those Vaxiax exemples,
users told me that it has a low output.
Listen here, and then forget about the other amp modelers:

Acually, it's the cheapest of the 3 now, since Line 6 slashed the price. It's +/- €380 over here, while the others are both +/- €500.Mr Arkadin wrote:If you've got the cash i'd go for the PodXT.
