Hi,
I really need these 3 synths.
if I buy a new Nexus 2: I don't want to have the USB dongle.
Vanguard: discontinued: Only way is to buy used
Camel audio Alchemy: I don't use logic so I need the old alchemy (and I'm interested in many of the expansions)
So does anyone bought used and successfully installed these 3 synths without doing the company license transfer?
Thanks!
Bertrand

you can't buy Alchemy anymore legally. You can't run Nexus 2 without the copy protection legally. I am pretty sure you can buy Vanguard second hand but you have to go through with the "company license transfer".
Most people aren't gonna put up with illegal software here.

Camel Alchemy Player is still around (Computer Music has it monthly on DVD) and it was free, but I don't know if it can load all Alchemy libraries.
And it's only a player with limited editing options.
Considering "like the color" and mentioning the libraries I think OP searches for kind of "rompler". Player might be enough.

Alchemy is serial number, so I dont see how there will be a problem to buy it from somebody, other than no guaranty that they will not use it as well. I would like to have all those libraries I did not buy when they were available. We were never warned that they closing, and I doubt I would switch to Apple just to get those libraries now.

I'll try to buy vanguard used then. Seems like Refx allow license transfert for old vanguards (that was bought before the new licensing agreement). I'll just make sure the version of vanguard I'll buy can be transferred asking Refx.

When it comes to Alchemy, either to buy Logic, or go for the free Alchemy Player version that ships with CM each issue, they provide new sfz multi patches for it with each issue

These will get you fairly close to Alchemy and Nexus. Can't say about Vanguard, but far less money than Nexus2 during the holiday sale:

Out of curiosity, how much would you pay for Vanguard?bertrand18m wrote:I'll try to buy vanguard used then. reFX started the x-mas sale earlier this week, so buy it new, and you get a 20% discount compared to the usual price.bertrand18m wrote:if I buy a new Nexus 2: I don't want to have the USB dongle.

According to some overzealeous armchair lawyers in another thread in the marketplace where someone still has a copy of Alchemy listed for sale, you definitely can sell Alchemy and it's perfectly fine and anyone who disagrees shall be cast with stones. God knows how many behind the scenes copies might have been sold already because the listing was not pulled by mods or the seller. I gave up that fight being that it must be allowed I guess.ATS wrote:you can't buy Alchemy anymore legally. You can't run Nexus 2 without the copy protection legally. If you like the "color" of the sound from Vanguard, you should have a look/listen at the synths from Tone2. The company from the person who coded Vanguard. https://tone2.com/
They also have a very nice free one, which I think was some kind of a "spiritual successor" of Vanguard: Tone2 FireBird.
