Who is curating Froese's estate ?
There must be tons of unreleased material sitting in the vault, hope they will release that to the public over time

Good, I hope the estate can do something like Zappa's estate and keep on releasing material

It looks like the rest of the band are going to carry on as TD. Peter Baumann was going to work with them (he had planned to work on new material with Edgar) but withdrew from the project. Maybe he will work with Loom - that would be interesting.

Ulrich Schnauss was a top signing, I have been hoping that he would carry the torch forward for TD
If Chris Franke and J. Schmölling could do a come back in the band, I would start believing in miracles

Johannes is now a member of Loom with Jerome and Robert Waters.
Chris coming back to Loom would be better.

If I could pick anyone contemporary it probably would have been him. There's always been a TD'esque vibe about his music.Numanoid wrote:Ulrich Schnauss was a top signing, I have been hoping that he would carry the torch forward for TD

I am really happy that Tangerine Dream continues, that is a proper legacy to Edgar Froese

To me it looks like a business decision since the TD name can still sell tickets rather than "proper legacy."Numanoid wrote:I am really happy that Tangerine Dream continues, that is a proper legacy to Edgar Froese

Have you seen the places they are performing in...large they are not!
They can even seem to fill the small venues that they do play in.
Let the band name die...TD lost all credibility from about the mid nineties.
More like lift music since then...actually they should perform in a lift - they'd probably fill that up
And hurry up with the damn book!

What's wrong with playing small places? Brings them closer to the audience.
But IMO TD regained their footing in the mid 90's and have made interesting albums ever since.
Being a big fan of Schnauss for 15 years now, I am eager for the continuation.
Sound wise I think they struggled during the late 80's and early 90's. Lily on the Beach that is plastic lift music that is.Dunc wrote:Let the band name die...TD lost all credibility from about the mid nineties.

You would think Thorsten would have noticed that the crowd has diminished over the 12 years he's been with them.
It must be a bit soul destroying to see your crowd level go down over the years.
Give it up already.
If you want money, go into the archives and release the live concerts from the 70's. Release it untouched/re-recorded.
I'm speculating, but maybe the band estate don't have that stuff available because Chris Franke buggered off with it all and he's waiting for the band name to die off to release himself
