Simple way to find keys for multiple loops?

I'm not sure if this is the best place for this, but is there a program that will quickly determine the key of multiple loops in a sample library? I have way too many loops - folders and folders, some have the chords listed, but many don't. Most are wav files, and frankly some are just noise, so I'm not sure there is an actual key. But I was thinking it might be easier to organize it all if I sorted it by instrument played then by key.

I'm kind of looking for something that will do a bulk analysis.

I know, the music theorists will say I should go through each and figure it out. I have good relative pitch, but not perfect pitch. If I have to go through all of them and figure it out? I might as well delete them all.... because I don't have that kind of time.

Thanks for any suggestions. :)

Actually, now that I'm looking through them, most do have the chord(s)/keys/BPM. I guess it is just a matter of organizing them.... Sigh.

You're right. Such software does exist. It's used by DJs to determine the keys of all the tracks in their collection so they can quickly build sets. I believe "Mixed in Key" will batch process an entire library of files.

I was looking at this as it sounded good. But I wasn't sure how it would work with non-DJ DAWs. Though I guess I can use it with Live. I'm trying to find a way where I can spend more time making music and not searching for loops that work with what I'm doing. :P

Thanks!

This is interesting in that it also shows the number of times a chord appears. But it is a plugin and I really want something that will organize by collection. I am thinking I will try Mixed in Key.

But thank you for the suggestions. :)

Mixxx is a free DJ software that comes with a musical key detector. You can even change the key of your tracks while they play. Pretty cool. Haven't tried it on loops, but if they're long enough it should work.

Hey, free I like. If it doesn't work, it's just a bit of my time. I was concerned when it looked like it only would pull from iTunes. But I read further and it will pull from a drive. But I'm not sure if it reads wave files. It's not on the list of supported files.

But it never hurts to try. :)

Thanks!
