I program everything in the piano roll, so no interest in the seq, or sample loading. Be interesting to see if the synth engines can produce 'better' sounds i can already do in zebra, dune, etc etc etc. Really tho i think ive pretty much got it covered.

I thought the same about the midi, but I'm still looking forward to testing it out

Me too, have been waiting for a great software drum machine.

Well, I for one have tremendous interest in the sequencer, so bring it on! :D

indeed a shame.. but on the flipside, now using a vst host, i finally found a legitimate use for the AD tattoo i bought over 2 years back and never touched cause it sounds so bad. But it's sequencer has midi output and i like the sequencer. I could use it to control stix if i didn't like stix's sequencer (or d16 stuff, etc)>
Indeed, that's how I often start with my percussion tracks. Tattoo's sequencer (which is awesome) as a scratchpad routed it into another drumsynth. I wish it had also midi drag/drop to host though.
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

Well, some people need/desire audio demos not sounding anything special -but hopefully good- because they are after standard sounds. While other people -sometimes the same people- want some more special stuff, because they already have access to a solid sonic arsenal, and are only interested in 'special stuff'. SOooo that, maybe it's worth doing both types of demos. Who can the more can the less.

This said you can cumulate 'simple drumpad' demos in one kit/sequence/patterns if you wish. It's just that, -ime- when you cumulate too many special things, or too many heavy/InYourFace sounds, 'special' seems to dissapear in a linear way to the pattern becoming quickly over busy. But it's possible to make interesting duos or trios though, with a bit of patience. Actually it totally up to the user to take these roads. I have prepared hundreds of drumpads that all have their own *special modulation powers*.

As for the Midi Out, as I said before, it might come in a future update. If there is enough demands for it. Just not for the v 1.0. Maybe it's a 'shame' like I've read it, but well, a lot of Drum Machines dont even have a sequencer, and StiX is still in it's early age.

'better' I dont know, but different, certainly ( though it also depends on etc. etc can be pretty much anything, or ... everything )

I've programmed a lot of percussive/drums sounds in Dune for some soundbanks. And yes, it's different.

You can control StiX via a midi keyboard (play sounds-) or via any other sequencer. There's a randomize function for each sequencer line in StiX also, for those who like this kind of features. It's fun ( though I dont use it often tbh )

Any plans for making it a Rack Extension too ?

Sorry if that came out harsh - I was just disappointed :). And you don't have to be so defensive - what I wrote is just one opinion in a sea of subjectivity. 8)

As for demos - I can easily hear that you are after different sounds than I look for. So I'm not saying that there is something wrong with StiX - I will certainly download the demo (when it will be out) and will check it for myself. What you write about the sequencer sounds very interesting.

Not at the moment. But a NKS ( NI keyboards ) version will probably be released at some point.

A complete integration within maschine could be very promising for such an unit I think.

No Theo. Like I said maybe a midi out capability could be added. If there's enough demands for that. And at a later point.

Well to be honnest, I still don't know exactly myself the complete range of sounds that StiX is able to produce. There's so much to explore, and time is short at the moment.

6th example : Here's a simple StiX pattern I made yesterday. The Kick and a few drumpads are full -virtual- Analog, and the remaining drumpads are sample based. The *congas* ; There are only two Congas samples, that I sampled from an FM synth iirc. StiX makes them *alive* ( Ok I spent around 10 mn tweaking them to get the pattern sound 'right' ) So, this will not replace a deeply sampled Acoustic Conga set ( On wich you'll spend some minutes to master as well ) but it gives *something else* in the Electronic/Hybrid Congas Realm. And this *something* I find interesting and personnaly enjoy a lot.

StiX House A -1 Pattern-

If someone has asked me one month ago if stiX could be able to produce such a groove with such a *sound*, I would have answered 'I honnestly dont know'. What I think actually is that StiX global *palette* will be wider and wider as times goes by. I does has limits, but still, it's pretty versatile, and can do things other Drum Machines can't. Wich, imho, justifies its existence.
