Cheers for you swift reply.

Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 uses regular DX plugins which the DX wrapper I have converts VST's into. So surely I should be able to use it.

Or are you saying that SR202 is a VSTi, hence DXi wrapper, hence SONAR?

Precisely. Normal DX plugs (pre-DXi) have no mechanism for MIDI input, and the host sequencer has no mechanism for sending it to them. Hence SONAR and DXi.

Gotcha.

Cheers mate.

Hi,

Firstly, my apologies if this turns out not to be an SR202 issue, especially if it turns out to be down to my own muppet-factor. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

Anyhoo,

I have tried to use the SR202 within a DX wrapper which I think was also supplied with Computer Music Magazine. When I try and "plug it" into my sequencer (Cakewalk pro audio 9), it gets recognised as an audio plugin instead of a MIDI plugin (it appears under "Audio Effects"). This is surely wrong coz it works fine in Fruity Loops (without a wrapper) where it seems to be driven by MIDI input, not audio. Just wondered if anyone else out there has had any problems with this or if anyone's got any suggestions.

Ta.

Sinbad.

Hi Sinbad,

You can't use VST Instruments in Cakewalk ProAudio 9. You'd need to upgrade your ProAudio 9 to SONAR to use SR-202 or other VSTi, and also make sure your VST-DX adapter is DXi-compatible (none of the freeware ones are, something like the FXpansion v3.0 Standard Edition will do the trick however).
