Playing multitimbral instruments with keyboard split in Studio One 2 - even possible?

Hey,

finally figured out how to create keyboard splits on my keyboard, and how to setup Largo, which is 4-part multitimbral in Cubase Elements so that i can play 2 parts with 2 zones on my keyboard. In Cubase Elements, you just have to set up Largo so that it's playable multitimbral, the different parts are automatically set to midi channels 1-4, so you just have to set up the track with Largo to receive on all midi channel, and you're good to go. Now i just have a problem reproducing that on Studio One 2 Producer... the thing is, i set up Largo for multitimbral play in Studio One, by creating 2 tracks, one transmitting midi on channel 1, the other on channel 2, like the channels i also set up on my keyboard for the 2 zones, but the problem i have now is obviously the focus thing. Correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems like Studio One lets you only play the instrument instance which is opened in the moment, at least when you use the control link function, so i'm only able to play one of the 2 tracks if that makes sense. Unless i get something else wrong. Am i doing this correct? Or is there a way a track can receive on all midi channels? Hope someone can tell what is wrong there.

If i remember correctly you can highlight (or focus, as you say) multiple tracks by clicking them while holding CTRL. (Or was it SHIFT, i dont recall right now.)

I believe this way the tracks would all receive input from the keyboard and thus could be played simultaneously.

I actually tried that yesterday, but it didn't work either. Maybe i did something wrong though. I will try it again in a couple of minutes. But the main procedure was right, yeah? Set up 2 tracks with Largo, on receiving on midi channel 1, one on midi channel 2, then setting the keyboard zones to midi channel 1 and 2, and then (probably) highlight both tracks so they can be played simultaneously? Hope that that control link thing doesn't play into it still.

Sounds about right to me.

Just make sure that the red RecArm buttons are enabled on both tracks as well, then it should work fine.

(If i recall correctly, just highlighting the tracks will not enable them automatically.)

Success. :) Tried your tip with the recarm buttons, but unfortunately, it still didn't work. Then i checked the midi keyboard setting in the S1 options again, and saw a option called "split channels", which i activated, and after activating that, and setting both the instrument channel, and the keyboard's channel to 1 and 2 for the two instrument tracks, it now works nicely with the other steps described above. :)

Btw, still not exactly sure why there's a midi channel for the instrument, and one for the keyboard for every track now that i activated "split channels" in the midi keyboard options (at least it looks like that, see the picture), and why it didn't work without those.

Really sick of midi keyboards... it worked one time yesterday, and now it does all sorts of weird stuff again. The keyboard zones are activated, even though the zone button is not activated, even when setting up the way it worked yesterday, it won't work, but just play both layers at the same time... i can't set octave for each zone anymore, and after deactivating split channels in Studio One, Studio One doesn't even show the midi channel for the tracks anymore... weird weird weird. Well there's some issues in Studio One anyway with my midi keyboard. Sometimes it just stops working, and there's no way to fix it, even restarting S1 doesn't do anything. Need to plug the midi keyboard in and out then to fix it.
