GW,
We definately plan to address all the criticsms of Tau's emulation in the next update, we've definately heard you!

Anyone else got anything *definate* to share? I'd especially like to hear from long-time TB303 owners too.

Cheers
Dave

I read in another thread that you are planning to update the Tau Bassline soon.....

Please look at the thing with the envelope that I mailed you about - the filter not decaying right.

With a long decay setting, after a while, the filter decay goes "flat" like you are using an ADSR with a low sustain and its hit the sustain stage. I'm pretty sure that a real TB has an exponential decay in its envelope and goes on decaying forever, not like this at all.

Thanks!

Ah yeah, I've been using the Tau for a while. What I really miss is two boolean parameters to control the accent on/off and the glide on/off parameters. Look also at how the 303 actually has in some case when the accent is used a slightly attack on the filter envelope.

Keep up the good work!

Well you've already mentioned that the scope of the update will include Tau Pro and that's what I'd ask for.

I think I can remember people moaning for ever how the Tau synths don't accept midi pitch bend. Might be an idea to put that one to bed on both devices in this update.

You could always make them polyphonic. :-)

I already love the Tau Pro - so as long as the update makes me love it as much or more than I already do I'll be happy.

Hi Dave,

I'd like to see pitch-bend !

Keep up the good work !
Thanks !

Dominote,

You can switch off the glide function simply by setting the glide time control to zero in Tau.
However if you play legato the filter envelope doesn't re-trigger (fun with a long decay :-). If you need the filter envelope to trigger on every Note On, legato or not, then simply switch the Retrigger switch.

The new version of Tau will definately have Accent (just like Tau Pro) and also Pitch Bend.

Dave

And a polyphonic version of Tau Pro with pitch bend too...Please Please?

Marc555, that would be Positron....

Cheers
Dave

Yes but Positron isn't available yet and I already own Tau Pro so.........Please Please? (any release date for Positron?)

Ok, but is the retrig switch controlable via an
automated parameter? Like you can control the
Cutoff with a automated parameter. Would be mint
if that could be implemented.

Speaking of the accent automated parameter that I
spoke of earlier, this would make the Tau sound
more like a TB303. Take a look at Rebirth RB330
and you will find exactly the kind of parameter
that would like to have.

Now I have to use two Tau, one with accend and
one without. Wouldn't it be cool if you could
switch on the accent as you can do on the
original TB303. That would be really mint if this
was added....

I saw that you where planning to have pitchbend
as well as accent. Good!

How about this little nifty thing, a pulse width
control for the square wave? Maybe skinning?
Overdrive? How do you like that?

Thanks for a super instrument, love it alot!

Dominote,
You should be able to record retrig switch changes in Cubase at least in the same way you record cutoff movements, as special Sysex in a MIDI track.

Kind regards

hi,

why not add a step sequencer with glide and gate controls on each step, like the one in energypro and on the ts404 in fruityloops. that way the 303 sounds will be more true to the original, since that used a step sequencer with "glide" rather than the host's sequencer with portamento. just please make sure you can see all of the pattern at once (don't make it like the original 303 sequencer or rebirth's).

thanks,
oli

Sorry guys, Tau will never have a sequencer.

Cheers

Mouahahah seen Dave ... I'm not alone!

Post

with Cubase SX you don't need to incorporate a Step-sequencer...look at the MIDi FX (MFX ala Cakewalk)

there is a pretty nifty Reason' Matrix like Plugin
