Years and years ago when the UVI "engine" was first released I dubbed it the "Unstable VST Instrument"......

I was actually eyeing a Craigslist ad for a CZ the day before I saw an email for this synth pop up. Seeing as how I have no actual hardware in my studio right now, this just makes more sense then trying to figure out an actual synth for the first time ever. From what I can tell, there are samples for two of the libraries, and wavetables for the other. I opened them up in Falcon to examine how they were put together to determine that.
The wavetable ones especially sounded close to the CZ sound, and were the most modifiable. The Sample based ones were pretty limited if you wanted to start heavily tweaking them or the filters. Fortunately, I think the presets cover a lot of the staples you would be wanting to get out of a CZ without the pain of trying to tweak the settings of the original. I have messed with the plugin boutique emulation and found it really hard to fiddle with too, even though it was set up to be toyed with.
If you want the ability to do big long CZ style sweeps, and need to tweak them to fit your song, this is not the library for you. That is the one thing is is not able top provide.
If you own Falcon though, the stuff they have crammed in here is really fun to mess with, and even lift to use in your own presets.
I'd say for this sale price, the convenience of the CZ sound in a vast number of these presets is a good call. But after this deal, whew, not really. I would be better off getting that one that was on Craigslist. I am sure the price for this one will come down in time.
GUI is top notch as always though. One of their best, perhaps. Good GUIs usually give me a little extra kick of inspiration

A heaping dose of outrageously goofy synth tracks, scores and chiptunes.

Just picked this up. Took a (long) while to download the RAR file which had the Cameo.ufs file. It's huge at 9.4 GB.
Quick question for those in the know.. While all three of the instruments appear in Falcon's Treeview browser, only Cameo CZ has subfolders, where the presets have been laid out by category ( Arp and co, Bass, Bells-Mallet, etc... ) with the presets showing in the folders. Both Cameo CM and Cameo CX appear in Treeview with no subfolders showing their presets. I can get at their presets in the GUI by dropping down presets dropdown list (which comes up by default with 00-Init, for those looking for it)... however it's way less convenient than Cameo CZ which shows it's presets in the Treeview browser. Are the presets for CM/CX viewable in some other way in their GUIs? Ugh.. guess it wasn't such a quick question.
My fallback will be to index these into Logic Pro as AUIntruments, as using a dropdown list for moving through presets is a pita.
Aside from having to manually select CM and CX's presets... I havent seen anything worth bitchin' about. I am running this currently on a Mid 2011 iMac i5 with 16GB of RAM and SSDs. Havent heard crackling, or other signs of inefficient implementation yet. Initial impressions are that this is a fantastic way to add bread-n-butter 80's sounds (and more) to your Falcon (or UVI Workstation) arsenal.

Cameo has served as a good advertisers for this kind of sound, I was hungry for VCZ before, and even more now
For anybody digging this kind of sound, why do you only need one, if you got VCZ obviously you want more of a good thing.

Indexed Cameo's soundbanks. Only Cameo CZ is laid out in Cameo's browser... making it a PITA to navigate through Cameo CM and Cameo CX's presets. Anyway - these are the Logic Pro AU Instrument indexes for the set (470+ patches). If you use Logic / Logic Pro - and if you own Cameo, these might be of interest. Anyway - they're linked on LogicPro Help forum here: http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewt ... 60#p622397

After a couple of days with VirtualCZ I gotta say that is the preferred plug for this kind of thing.
Sounds great, rather low CPU usage, and eats far less HDD space.
