Sorry for another "bump within 24h", but I wanted to let you know what's going on behind the scenes. To make you aware of why I am constantly bumping this.

 As of this moment, we have two (as in 2) tracks for future Mix Challenges in the song pool.
With one Winter Holiday Mix in the making (might become a really close one), and one pending submission.

That, is definitely not much to work with.
(read: we definitely really only have 2 tracks as of this moment!)

I can't say which track will be selected for the next challenge (genre wise, I do try to keep things interesting with shuffling tracks), but I can at least say this... if these tracks are used up - the challenge is officially over/on indefinite hiatus.

By current plannings, that may be as soon as February 2015.

Current Mix Challenge schedule:
- Mid December to Early January - Holiday Mix (unless we don't get one in time, then one from the pool)
- short break until End of January
- February: Song 1 from the song pool (unless that was used up during the holidays)
- March: Song 2 from the song pool (unless that was used up in January)

Then the pool is dry once more.

 This particular thread is in the Music Cafe due to one main reasons:

People post in the Music Cafe to get heard - however, people desire feedback and need help improving their tracks

What is (currently) beyond me:
I constantly read in the Music Cafe and Production Techniques threads "I am stuck, I am not a mixer - how can I improve things". Yet barely anybody is contacting us, with the comment "hey, I have an eye on your challenge for quite a while now - can you help me out?!".

I sum it up again from the other threads (Mix Challenge Gossip and the Guidelines threads):
  • the challenge is a win-win situation for everyone!
  • the clients/song provider get exposure, a lot of great mixes free of charge (you only need to invest some waiting time and them some time for feedback/selecting winners!) - basically it's a "mass engineer shootout" without any further obligations, and the client/song provider can learn from the experience!
  • the mix participants can learn new things as well (tips and tricks from their fellows), try out new tools or skills, and can win something in the process (if they get to the Winners Podium)
  • the sponsors get free exposure and help making the challenge interesting, not to mention can help improve the workflow of mix participants (should they win something)

So please... please don't be scared off. Get in touch with us (or rather me, as I take care of integrity checks for the time being). You will not be thrown into the cold water or in front of a herd of wolfs - we will(!) walk you through all odds and ends.

But we need more material to mix, else the Mix Challenge is officially over.

So please... any genre is welcome. If your track has vocals, even better!
If you're unsure about rules/submission guidelines - check the first post of this thread again.

EDIT - The following paragraph is now obsolete:
And if you want the Mix Challenge to be more prominent, in Site Stuff (Subforum) is a thread, that has a Feature Request to give all KVR Challenges it's own dedicated forum. Which in turn gives exposure to both KVR Audio and the Challenges. So no more "I only heard of this now!" - win-win for everyone!

Thanks for reading and getting in touch.

We're nearing the end of the year.

As of this moment, we have two tracks in the pool. But it could be more - with one of your tracks!

I'll prepare some files for one of my tracks compyfox. One that I made without contributing artists. It'd be interesting to see what someone did with it :).

I only have pm btw - But any genre you like - take me 8 days. If you want to wait 3 days and then give me 8 - I'll have a boss recorder (maybe)

I'll make a nice reggae tune with me singing for DJ's to mix here. I do not have the communication mediums as you'd suggested above - Let me know if that's ok.

Throw a PM, like everyone else.
I'll take a listen to the provided demo mix and then decide how to perform further.

Bump.

A thank you to those that PM'd me so far. Though please keep in mind, we need new material to mix "now" in order to plan the course of the challenge for 2016. If you can't provide anything, it's only throwing sand into the gears.

We're still especially looking for:
- Acapella or Acoustic (limited instrumentation) material
- Drum and Bass
- Hip Hop / Trip Hop

Thanks.

This is a source by Mike Senior and just for "education purposes only" (actually, I got this one offered for the third time at this place). We can't just snag the files and then be gone with it. We need the actual permission to use the files, and the interaction from the "Client" (Song Provider) for this to work. So I would have to contact them first, hope to get an answer, then go from there, etc. I hope that is understandable.

I'm posting in the Music Cafe for this particular reason - here are a lot of musicians presenting their content and asking for feedback in return. Some of them even ask for mix advice. So we hope that at some point, they see this thread and be like "oh hey, the Mix Challenge could help me, let's provide a track". Or others could be like "yeah, I have an old track - let's offer it".

So far, not many people got in touch. Which is a bit surprising to say the least.

But thanks for the offering.

At this stage I don't even know if you just waste our/my time to show off. You've been posting in here for quite a while now as well. First you said "I'll prepare some files"; then "I'll record something for this", now you say "I wait for a recorder first".

Seriously - please stop it with the teasing. Contact me if you have something "in your hands" to present, and ONLY then. Once that is happening, we can go from there (we still have to agree if the track is suitable or not).

Everything else doesn't help neither me (as host of the Challenge), nor the Mix Challenge in general as we need to have something to talk about/in our hands first.
