Hey everyone. After playing guitar for several years then putting it down because of DJing/comp music production Ive decided to get back into it...I just miss it :) Im gonna pick up one the new sunburst strats!! http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid ... _id/34409/

On my laptop I have a Echo I/O card installed which if Im not mistaken is a low impedence in while a guitar is a high impedence out. Should this pose any problems? If so, suggestions?

I've got the Echo i/o, too, and a strat using a Roland VG-88 for preamp into the computer.

Your best bet for an affordable and good preamp is something like the GuitarPort by Line6.com. I've heard good things about them and they are only $99. Or if you have dollars to spend, the deal going for Amplitube is hard to beat right now as they are giving T-Racks away free if you buy it.

Buying something designed for guitar to pc input is most likely the way to go.
They most likely have whats needed besides impedence balancing.Like a compressor stage/limitor.

For just getting balanced...look into active or passive direct boxes.

I use a small Behringer mixer into an Indigo I/O. They can be had for as little as $59.
