It's not so much alternative - I use all sorts of plugins that cover the same ground. It's just that, conversely to their name, I just don't like the sound of their filters! I had fabfilter one and couldn't understand why people thought it sounded analog. I can't get on with their interfaces either.szalonykp wrote:@ e@rs - Will look into Saturn moredo_androids_dream wrote:I've tried all the FF plugins - didn't like any of them - very overpriced as well.e@rs wrote:Didn't like Timeless and Volcano, but Saturn is killer.
@ do_androids_dream - they are not cheap. What's your alternative, what do you use?
Looking for a mixing plugins suite - basic plugins: eq, compressor, limiter, gate

Take a good look at Equalize by Acon Digital (outstanding IMHO)
I kind dislike Bundles. I prefer fine tune my tools and create my own bundles out of so many great products on the market.

Ok - what sorts of plugins do you use for transparent compression? I'm curious.liquidsound wrote:Take a good look at Equalize by Acon Digital (outstanding IMHO)

I'm looking for compressor with a waveform display - found FabFilter C 2, DMG Compassion, LVC-Audio Pressed-MAX, VSL Compressor, Melda MDynamics, Blue Cat's Dynamics, Boz Digital Manic Compressor... Are you using any of these? Any suggestions?

I use DC8C, The Glue and Live stock compressor.
I also have Presswerk but I didn't get into it yet.
I never got Transparency with my skills...
This is a good review for Equalize

I tried Acon Digital Equalize - and it's great! I think I like working with Pro Q 2 a little bit more (just tried them side by side), but nonetheless Equalize is very good.
I tried LVC-Audio Pressed-MAX and the waveform display is great, but the whole GUI is not very readable for me. What I miss in Pro C is the ability to change the time resolution - i.e. how fast the audio scrolls.
Decisions, decisions...

TDR Kotelnikov or sinusweb peak compressor are great for transparent compression. The sinusweb one has a waveform display.szalonykp wrote:Ok - what sorts of plugins do you use for transparent compression? I'm curious.

Good time to buy since there is a holiday discount.
Btw. Try also Verberate when you will be interested in a reverb that feels just right.
Good luck with your production!

This makes sense, it does not add color, and uses a bone dry simple compression algorithm. But the pluses of this is it can be tweaked to a wider degree than other compressors, which may focus on a specific sound.do_androids_dream wrote: Man.. there's room for improvement there! Reacomp, for me, is on the bottom of the barrel
A good compressor/gate/limiter in one plugin is DMG Compassion. It can do a hell of a lot for one dynamics plugins.

Yeah, but I'm looking for a transparent compression - not an emulation. And with waveform display.nickamandote wrote:id' buy this http://www.eareckon.com/eshop/en/vst-au ... undle.html

I'm a Reaper user - so I knowcamsr wrote:The ReaPlugins bundle is free and is actually versatile, but it's not as fancy (sound and GUI) as the more plentiful commercial offerings.
Discussed in the thread already.camsr wrote:A good compressor/gate/limiter in one plugin is DMG Compassion. It can do a hell of a lot for one dynamics plugins.
Oh - I missed it. Thanks for that tip.dwozzle wrote:For compression, give Boz Digital Manic Compressor a shot. Lots of control, lots of flavors, lots of options.
