Hi guys !

I'm making a cover of The Beatle's Hey Jude. And so I'm looking for an old style drum kit. The drums on the original track sound pretty dry.

So, what I'm looking for is some old style drum kit(s). Free or for a reasonable amount. Well reasonable for a bedroom musician with a wife and kids who expects loads of presents for xmas :-)

So, what do you suggest? Maybe there's some xmas deal out there I've missed?

Peace & Love !

The one cheap drumkit I know of which mentions 'Beatles' is this:

http://www.wavesfactory.com/tea-towel-drum.php

For Kontakt, but looks like it has separate WAV files.

There are also some one-shots in the 'Sixties' loops set by KVR stalwart Herodotus, dunno if they might cover relevant territory.

Thanks ! :tu:

The first oen (for Kontakt - that I dont' have) sound more accurate. It's more, kind of, subdued sounding, like the original.

The freebie sound pretty similar exept it's more spacey. No tea towels so to speak.

So I'll probably go for the Kontakt version. The problem is that I don't really know how to deal with 4+ Gb of wave files. I mean how on earth do I set up a dru kit with 500 one shots?

What drum machine type software do you have?

According to the webpage its a Kontakt 3 instrument. That means it might be convertible to some other format, (ie with something like ExtremeSampleConvertor, which should convert from anything pre Kontakt4).

Gets to be a bit more faff, though.

Wel, I got GRove Agent ONE that came with my Cubase Artist 6.

I've never considered getting any drum machine. I normally do the drum tracks manually Taking a sound from here and there (from Grove Agent ONE most of the time). Maybe using quantize sometimes. Editing in the MIDI editor. adding the fills etc.

But maybe I should have a look for an alternative to Groove Agent ONE.

I did a SFZv1 mapping of Big Mono from Analogue Drums a while ago. There's a more up to date version (for Sforzando) around, too. Not sure it'd suit The Beatles. I don't think most of the other mappings I did have samples still available.

These might be good places to start

Ringo's muted drums are very characteristic

The Tea Towel (Ludwig?) drumkit from Wavesfacroy where closest to the original. The've got that muted sound of Ringo Starr's drums.

The free sample pack mentioned above sound very much the same apart from that they're not muted.

As fro Drumdrops samples I don' tknow. I couldnt 'see any demo. So I've not heard them. But there's a Ludwig drumkit there too.

I've not seen any other muted Ludwig drumkit.

I would very much love to hear the SFZ set mentioned above.

All in all There are a few 60s drumkits but non o those I've seen so far are muted...so to speak.

The kit's homepage is http://www.analoguedrums.com/details-bm.php
My SFZ v1 mapping (for the rgc:audio sfz.dll v1.97) is here -- the layout doesn't match the original Kontakt mapping.
The SFZ v2 mapping is mentioned in this thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=426211
