From the email:
---------------------
As usual, this is later than I would have liked, but I hope it offers you a cleaner, sleeker experience with The Mangle, with many issues fixed and an updated visual style.
I've been promising more presets for ages, and they're coming soon (I promise). They'll be free for you all to download in a separate upcoming email - perhaps a Christmas or New Years' gift!
Here are the updates:
download (Mac update, 11.4Mb)
download (Win update, 5.3Mb)
Or you can download the full release, including presets:
download (Mac, 91Mb)
download (Win, 85Mb)
Changes:
- Visual facelift, with an overall cleaner look and improved clarity in grain display & animations.
- As part of the overhaul, the layout of the modulator buttons changed slightly - LFOs swapped positions with Envs 1 & 2. Sorry if this fools with your muscle-memory, but it makes more sense this way!
- Fixed hilariously broken MIDI assignments. Mod wheel, pitch wheel, and learned CC assignments now work with at least a pretence of sanity.
- Coarse and fine pitch adjustments don't reset on closing/opening the GUI, another silly bug sqaushed.
- You can now easily hear the original sound file with a 'play' button at the top right of the grain display.
- Double click on resizer triangle to reset size to default.
- Presets are now loaded & saved off the GUI thread - this means the interface doesn't lock up if you're loading/saving a preset with lots of embedded audio, which can take some time.
- Added new option in Slot copy/paste menu to paste all settings except position and amp.
- Extracting audio now numbers audio files by slot, so you can extract embedded audio, then re-add it to The Mangle by dragging all the files to the first slot.
- Fixed a problem where if you had embedded audio, but the corresponding audio didn't exist on your harddrive, the preset reembeds audio in a space-inefficient way.
- Numerous other small fixes.

I'm surprised Tom's still alive after Wagtunes burned him at the stake.

Meh.
I'm happy to see its still being supported. I was worried reading the occasional postings here, but he appears to be a programmer and not a PR guy. That's something I can live with.
I don't care for additional presets, but from a commercial perspective I do see the appeal to new users (although the low price/value for features should be enough IMO).

So are those Wag's presets that are included in the big download? Does this means they can be friends again now?

No. Just the default factory presets.mutantdog wrote:So are those Wag's presets that are included in the big download? Does this means they can be friends again now?

Got the email, downloaded but haven't installed (Win).
Those who are reporting that Wag's presets aren't included, did you download the update, "Or you can download the full release, including presets" (quoting the email). I wonder if the new full install has updated presets?

I'm going to contact Tom one last time and ask him if he still wants to include my presets in the synth. As it's been 8 months since I've heard from him I'm not going to hold my breath but I'm going to put the offer out there again in good faith. Either way, it's no skin off my nose. It's frustrating when you have an agreement with somebody, put in countless hours of work for them, and then hear absolutely nothing for months. Sorry, but that's not professional and it's something I would never do to another person. I may come off as an abrasive ass sometimes but I'm at least a man of my word. If I tell you I'm going to do something, I do it and I expect the same in return. I could have been doing something else all those hours instead of what I was doing.
Anyway, I'm going to give this one last shot and see what happens.

I'm on Win and installed both the full and the update, with the update not being necessary but I was having some issues with previous versions of the plugin.dwozzle wrote:Got the email, downloaded but haven't installed (Win).

All samples and patches are stored in the "Program Data" folder and expanded there is about 227MB worth of files but I have no idea what is what so if anyone can point me at a list of Wags' work then I can answer your question.
Liking the update, graphical changes make sense to me and the whole things seems more robust now
EDIT: Seems Evil Dragon already answered this question, they're not there. Wags did you end up uploading them somewhere?

Yes, it's a thoughtfully designed update.
FYI, if you want wagtunes Mangle presets, he gave them away here:

You know, a more positive attitude may improve your musical decisions and your preset quality. Just sayin'wagtunes wrote:I may come off as an abrasive ass
